Depends on SM and locale!!

Depends, of course, but I said yes. My store where I'm from was great. Stressful at times, but my team made it easy and fun. Another store I worked at was super chaotic and I wanted to cry after. Same with other stores that I just didn't vibe with. Good experience and leadership learning, but.. yeah.. depends.

It’s not so bad. The main difference is counting money and inventory (which only requires basic math skills) and delegating tasks to baristas. I was already doing the latter so I figured I ought to be paid for it.

I’ve seen a lot of people come and go who have struggled being an SSV because they lack critical thinking skills.

Depends on a lot of things. I voted yes just for the pay in my area. But I also work in a cafe so it’s a lot more chill than a drive thru

I vote it’s worth it especially if you’re being propositioned to be one. Chances are, if someone is saying you should become one it’s because you are already doing part of the job. You get paid more and you can be supportive to your baristas in ways you wish you would have been supported. It’s stressful at times and hearing what corporate has to say all the time is annoying but overall, I’m happy being a shift. (I’ve been with the company three years and a shift for one year.)

I have seen and heard from SMs what it is like. And honestly? You get very little pay increase for twice the amount of stress. I don't think it sounds great personally but hey, it works for some people.

I do wish one thing though. Just because you are a bit higher than someone, doesn't mean you can do as you wish, avoid register, dump people on the same stations. And baby people all the time. You are not perfect. So get off your high horse. Pardon the mini vent.

I’m currently a shift and it for sure depends on your sm. Mine sucks and is the reason I’m quitting

I'm not a shift, but I doubt it's worth the hassle.

I voted No. I think it’s depend on how SB at your area working and how’s your coworkers + SM. But for my store, it was just too much unnecessary pressure for a shift so for me, it’s not worth it. I’ll make my 2nd year on the coming January and I stay because of the night crew and the benefits.

I’ve worked for 4 managers as a shift at 3 different stores. It’s always worth it so far for me but I know some store managers who have really targeted shift leaders to get them fired.

If you’re not dealing with that then the extra pay and hours are always worth it IMO. It’s a bit more stress but I can pay my rent with it.

It really depends on your store. I love being a shift at my store but it’s a cafe and we’re kinda just chillin with the old Starbucks vibes.
