Everything went wrong today (self.starbucksbaristas)

My store’s AC hasn’t been working for the past week or two, and I live in Ontario, Canada, where it has been consistently 35-40 degrees Celsius everyday and night. My manager called the starbucks AC technology people and they told her to flip the breaker. It was 8:30am, in the middle of our morning peak. My manager was like no way, everything will turn off. She ended up flipping the breaker, everything shut down, you just heard it all stop. And then it all booted back up. Our ovens, espresso machines, brewers, fridges, registers, everything…. We got our ovens and espresso machines back on and started trying to catch up on our orders. Meanwhile, we’re still getting mobile orders and uber eats but because the registers went down, the STICKERS ARENT PRINTING. and I know theoretically uber and mobile should stop but they didn’t. Anyway, customers in the cafe are getting pissed because everything is delayed, and mobile orders just aren’t being made. 20 mins later we reset the wifi and the stickers start printing, now we have to catch up on that. Our registers consistently froze for the next hour, and our debit and credit never started working again. We had to give away so many free drinks. All while this is happening, we have someone removing a wasp nest from behind our sign at the front. And the plumber telling us all of our drains are clogged and our ice machine is overheating. Oh, and our AC STILL DOESNT WORK. LOL.

How hot is it getting inside? The last heat wave our ac broke and it was 40c inside so we had no choice but to close early that day. I dont know about where you live but here work safe b.c wouldnt let us work in those conditions. Hopefully its not that bad for you

It’s stupid because the cafe itself is fine, so the temperature says it’s 80F, but when you’re behind bar, next to the ovens, in the back room, we’re all sweating through our clothes and half of us take frequent water/bathroom breaks just to air out and rehydrate. The masks and glasses don’t help with the steam in our face either. We just figured out our building has fans run by the building manager. It’s a shit show but yeah after all that fiasco it didn’t even fix the AC lol
