i don’t understand how people do DTR and DTO at the same time. there’s no way you can juggle both and have fast dt times. especially if customers at the window want to add on to their order or have a drink remade. it’s just not efficient.

I started off in a licensed store && now I work at a high volume dt store. it gets better with practice. ik customers can be impatient but I like to speak when I'm stalling, so they don't think I'm ignoring them or so they can stop speaking for a moment (that sounds worse than what I mean lolz). example: repeating the order as I find the button. also best of luck on those next shifts, I understand that scheduling 🙃

Sounds like you'd be fine at DTO by itself when supported by a partner on DTR and maybe another at front/warming. But DTO/DTR is really two jobs and no one should be expected to do two jobs like that. Especially at the speed we're supposed to maintain

My only advice for getting people to actually listen to you when you say you’ll be right with them, is to make your greeting a little longer so they have to actually listen to you instead of just hearing a greeting and immediately ordering. For example, instead of just saying “Ill be right with you” try saying “Welcome to (location) starbucks, please take a minute to look over the menu and I’ll be right with you”

It doesn’t work every time, but usually the more words I say they eventually have to pay attention. And when they don’t and go ahead and order anyway, I just don’t respond until I’m ready and then I say “thank you /so much/ for your patience, please go ahead with your order” and they realize their mistake. Either way, when doing both DTO and DTR I try to prioritize the customer at the window since that’s the time we focus on most

I'm a whiz on DT and love it but put me on bar I literally have a panic attack the entire time.

Currently being forced to solo DTO + DTR this week, 3rd week at my store. I feel the pain.

you have to learn to talk to people at the window while listening and remembering the order coming thru ur headset and then while ur waiting on the transaction at the window (card/app) or getting change (cash) u put in the order and then after u put the order through u hand of the drinks to the window and start taking the next order and repeat lol. at least thats how i do it during rush. if i need more time at the window i just have some one on bar take the order while i deal with window person. obvsly this can be tweaked but this is basically how i do dto and dtr at the same time.

don’t be afraid to say “i’m sorry i’ll be right with you” if they try to order when u say wait
