How does your eating schedule work?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by tropinana23
I feel like my eating schedule is all over the place and it can be really hard to balance, so I would like to know how others balance theres especially on an 8 hr shift and having big meals just makes me feel nauseous. I feel like I'm starving during my shift and I'm not sure if its okay to have snacks while I'm on a shift

I found the Perfect bars on your 30 are a holy grail. Not overwhelming, cold and therefore refreshing, and pack a good amount of protein.
More often than not, I rely heavily on caffeine to artificially keep me full & just eat when I get back home.

This is basically what I would do. Mixed it up occasionally with oatmeal with a scoop of strawberries or a banana blended with ice and a juice from the case.

Our oatmeal is really underrated. When I’m feeling hungry past the abilities of caffeinated drinks but nauseous, oatmeal is great. Add extra blueberries to your oatmeal order & stick a pack or two in your bag for berry snacks for later.

100% agree that the oatmeal is underrated. please trust me and try one pump of the ~new fall syrup~ mixed in with the oats and hot water, then top with the brown sugar packet, cinn powder, the nut medley, and the ~new drizzle~ it is HEAVENLY!!!

But with steamed milk is even better!

Chocolate chip Perfect Bar in a oatmilk blonde espresso frap with a banana has been my go to when I need something to keep me full for a while.

So I close and work about 1-close every shift I work. I usually wake up around 9/10ish so I will have some coffee and a bar of some sort or yogurt, I started packing my lunches as of a couple months ago and it is a GAME CHANGER! Eating starbucks food all of the time wasnt good for me personally so I decided on packing lunches that include a snack to eat on my 10/fruit of sorts/dip and a chip/sandwich or salad/and a bar of sorts. Then i’ll eat dinner when I get off/home! I also work a Saturday morning shift here or there and usually then i’ll just get something from work! Our oatmeal is really good at filling you up, I usually do steamed soy with brown sugar and all of the nuts, and I agree with the comment about the perfect bars! Those are delish just make sure you have a drink with you lol

I eat right before a shift regardless of what time of day I'm starting. I'll pack a light snack for my two fifteens and a lunch like meal for my thirty.

I have sleep for breakfast

Working at sbux caused me to gain a bit of weight bc I ate all over the place and didn't keep track. Doesn't help that it's a stressful job too 😅 I recommend eating before your shift (try to do this at home or during your commute but not at work, instead get a drink at work to keep you awake) and then after your shift back at home. If the shift has a lunch, have a good sturdy lunch, helps to keep you going for longer

Ask your Supervisor/Store Manager. I spoke with mine during my PDC. If I don’t eat enough before a shift, and don’t have something ready, I’m a weak worker.
The understanding is that when I get a moment to get water, I also have to be the one to pull my snack out and eat it quickly enough to get back to my station quickly.
To that end, I bring simple, easily scarf-able items like whole strawberries, hardboiled eggs, and meat-sticks/smokies.
A well-placed strawberry is a strong force.
During breaks, have smaller, healthful options to supplement whatever else you order from the store.
Options may include: Yogurt or a peeled orange (specifically, I cut the two poles out and then the whole thing in half followed by using a metal spoon to cut around the inside of the peel to get as much of the white pulp along with the flesh as possible [at home]).
That whole process makes for two long strips of small pieces that are very easy to eat quickly.
For half hours, I bring in a whole, small, meal. Like- I’ll pick up Chinese ahead of time sometimes and bring a container to split it into two portions.

try eating on your 10 as well! im the same i have low blood pressure AND low blood sugar and cant eat a lot all at once so i keep a bunch of boxes of granola bars and other snacks in my car. whenever i go on my 10 i eat one of those so that when i have my 30 i can mark out a food.
i also try to drink a coffee when i get to work so that the caffeine keeps my stomach occupied till i get a chance to go on a break. that way im not dying on the floor from hunger (usually).
if it gets that bad for you between breaks though id keep a snack in your pocket or something and if you feel like you NEED it, go to the bathroom and eat it and give yourself a little couple minute break. if anyone bothers you about taking too long or something, just say you took a shit haha.
also DRINK WATER!!!!! it might not seem like it but it always helps.

Sausage and cheddar on my 30, eat about half or so. Sometimes a croissant on a 10 if working less than 6 hours and I didn't eat before I clocked in. Honestly I'm only a few months in and I can't get my eating or sleeping schedule under control. It's like I forgot how to human.

How does my eating schedule work? It does not 😂😭
sheep_heavenly2 points1y ago
I have a meal shake, otherwise I usually only eat dinner anyways.

I work 12-close. My eating and sleeping schedule is mostly just fucked, but what i usually do is have a hearty snack before work; something small from the RTD&E section (chips, perfect bar, fruit and cheese box, parfait, etc) or an oatmeal on my 15; then repeat if necessary on my thirty. Or if a customer decides they don't want something that has been opened or already heated, i put it aside for myself. I'll never fuck up a food order on purpose for that, but sometimes it just happens and I'll take what i can get.

I recently started focusing on eating healthy and found that packing my shifts worth of food was of great help! I open, so I usually make a smoothie first thing in the morning and do light snacks on my 10s (beef jerky, hummus and pretzels, fruit, etc) and pack a sandwich or pasta for my 30.
I've found that 6 smaller meals works really well for me, but definitely trying different timing if meals/snacks to see what best fuels you and keeps you from being tired and hungry through your shift.

I literally drink water all day. No caffeine, if I do end up drinking anything it’s cold brew with cold foam (not sweet cream) and on my ten would eat the overnight grains along with a banana.
