I take off my apron but it doesn’t matter. They will talk to me anyway

I cant tell you how many times Ive clocked out and then taken orders at the register or answered questions about drinks
sometimes I say 'sorry Im off the clock' but not always

Same. I’d probably get in trouble for saying I’m off the clock so if there’s coworkers around I just make eye contact until they see I need help

I was just clocking in at 7 in the morning and had a lady stop me to grind her coffee beans saying she “doesn’t have time to ask the person behind the counter to do it, she’s too busy making food.” Like ma’am I haven’t even clocked in yet, be patient!

Off comes the apron and the hat, head down, no eye contact, ignore all but the most strident "Excuse me!"s.

one time i was on my break, waiting to get water or something. basically facing customers. a woman was standing there quite clearly waiting to talk to me, i grabbed what i needed while keeping my head down as she's staring at me, then pulled out my phone and ran to the back. not on my break miss!!!

Before I left we had a new SM. He made us go in line and order our drink. Fine by me I’m not starting my 10 until I go into the back and sit down lol
