Can we do 2 doppio espressos and charge as a quad? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by iwantyourpoison
Got yelled at by 2 karens that “Starbucks themselves” told them that they can split a quad espresso into 2 doppios and only charge for a quad. Can someone confirm if this is true or not?

We don't split drinks for anyone. Venti frappucino into two talls? Nope. Here's an extra cup for you to do it yourself. We don't earn enough labor as it is.

If they do that shit themselves. We can’t split it. It would be like putting a venti Frappuccino into two tall cups.

yeah thats what i was thinking. we offered them to split it themselves but they wanted us to do it. hella rude about it

No. For labor purposes, they can do it themselves if they want two separate doppios shots

Just put double cup on the order and they can splits

… I mean… it’s both the same amount of shots (2+2 vs. 4), with nothing extra added in either one… so I don’t see why not. In the end they’re getting the exact same thing either way (4 shots), just in two separate short cups instead of one. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Starbucks has an official answer and it’s a hard no. If it goes in one cup, then it’s *one* drink. If it is split between two, it’s *two* drinks and needs to be charged as such. The upcharge accounts for the extra labor involved. If we aren’t charging for two drinks, we are shorting ourselves on labor.

yeah. i told them they can do it themselves but they insisted we could do it and still charge them for one. my shift said no.. if they were nice, maybe i’d do it

If they’re doing this constantly then they’re having use an extra cup which adds to inventory. and don’t forget the possibility of them getting cocky and whispering to the barista at handoff to add stuff to their drink after ordering a simple espresso (v common)
