Hi! So long story short I'm a trans coffee bean who is still on their parents insurance for another three years. I wanna milk what i can from that before hopping off theirs completely. Problem is, my folks said that anything involving my transition would have to be something i pay for on my own (which i understand and respect). So i wanna sign up for the Starbucks benefits to help knock down those costs, even if it's just by one penny. I don't wanna be booted off my parents' insurance though.

I'll be calling the service hotline tomorrow to ask specifics, but does anyone have any advice/is anyone else in a similar situation and know what to do here?

My trans friend in San Fran says it’s like an inside joke in the community that if you need help transitioning to get a part time job at Starbucks.

Pretty sure you only need to work 20hrs to be eligible for benefits, my wife works there and I just reap the benefits. I’ve worked healthcare and state jobs (OH) and have always retained my Starbucks insurance because it’s always been legitimately better, even when it was the same provider my wife’s plan was still cheaper with the same benefits. It’s not a bad idea, and there’s others that have used their insurance to help with transitioning. I hope it works for you!
