okay woah, strawberry creme frapp gets classic?
potatopoisoning18 points1y ago
Yes it does. So does a matcha cream frap.
scubasteve567-29 points1y ago
Not matcha
BabySteele16 points1y ago
Im very certain it does
Ordinary-Theory-8289-20 points1y ago
You have it backwards. I just checked the recipe card today. Matcha frappe gets classic. Strawberry cream doesn’t
cascadebabe2 points1y ago
Ikr! I swear we stopped and then started again. If anyone is confused- ring it up and you’ll see the classic syrup on the POS! that’s how I stay up to date lmao. US partner here for reference
shmeep102 points1y ago

The way we make iced matcha is water to the tall like, liquid cane 3/4/6, ice, matcha 2/3/4, shake and then top with milk. I’m not sure if they do it different where you are? I’m located in Canada so maybe the recipe is different but yours sounds all worng lol. Not even any syrup?
evaporatedristretto5 points1y ago
Matcha is premixed with sugar in the states, you probably have actual tea powder.
pretty_in_pink_122 points1y ago
Some recipes are different in Canada from the US

This definitely isn't silly! Memorizing the drinks can be overwhelming. My advice is to use your resources 😊 I always ask the other baristas how to make something if I'm unsure. Another BIG help are the recipe cards on the iPad. When I first started I would put the iPad by the bar I was on and it will tell you the step by step instructions. It only takes a couple seconds longer to search it and takes off some stress. Hope that helps!

matcha iced latte
1. pour desired milk to the milk line into the shaker (standard is 2%) 2. add matcha (tall-2 scoops, grande-3 scoops, venti-4 scoops) 3. add ice 4. shake ten times !! 5. pour into cup 6. lid and hand off, ask if customer would like a straw 🍵🧊
keylimerose7 points1y ago
strawberry acai refresher
1. pour strawberry acai to the base line on the shaker 2. add cold filtered water to the water line 3. add strawberry inclusions 4. add ice 5. shake ten times !! 6. pour into cup 7. lid and hand off, ask if customer would like a straw ☺️🍓
keylimerose5 points1y ago
strawberry creme frappuccino; 1. pour strawberry puree to the ridge at the very bottom of the cup (u don’t need a lot) 2. fill the cup to the first line with desired milk choice (standard is whole milk for frappuccinos) 3. pour cup contents into blender 4. add ice into blender 5. add creme base into blender 6. blend on 1 7. pour back into the cup 8. add whip and lid 9. hand off along with a straw 🤠👍

You’re AMAZING. I’m printing all of these out to memorize. You’re seriously a lifesaver. Thank you!!!
keylimerose1 points1y ago
hell yeah im glad it helped 🤍
GinaMohundro4 points1y ago
The iced matcha latte now gets cut with water (milk to bottom line on shaker & add filtered water to next line). And I don’t even remember a weekly update talking about this at all. It just because standard without communicating.
You can always ask for help with the iPad if you need it & I think all of the recipes are on there now.
victorious_gem13 points1y ago
I'm sorry, cut with water?? when did this happen 😳
Slightly_Caffeinated7 points1y ago
The Canada and US recipes are different
goldqueen2875 points1y ago
Wouldn’t that make it super watery?? I’ve been using just milk all this time 😬
timeladycaro6 points1y ago
Jumping on to say that iced matcha in Canada gets water, but it’s water to the bottom line, matcha 2/3/4, LCS 3/4/6 half dose pumps (Canadian matcha is unsweetened), ice, shake, pour, then add milk to the top.
gavinatoristhatyou8 points1y ago
wtf y’all have unsweetened matcha that’s dope

ask your shift if there are order signs/stickers. Most stores have them behind the blenders or near the espresso machines. They will say Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 and so on. These helped me a bunch in the beginning.
wtfae2 points1y ago
My shift was like trying to get me to answer the questions of how to do things, instead of telling me how to do things, so maybe I’ll just ask if I can go over the basics again as well. Thank you!!
zydr8te2 points1y ago
Ah, explain you need to see it done to help remember. Then ask about the order stickers. They don't have recipes on them but say (for example a Frappuccino) Step 1: pump frap roast in cup and add milk Step 2: pour in blender add ice Step 3: Add base and syrup Step 4: Blend and pour back in cup
A shift wants you to succeed. Getting you to answer questions is going to help them see where you need help. You seem to know where you need help. Tell them, just like you shared here, that the order of things is confusing
Also, (and not saying you are making this mistake) fraps are made with whole milk unless requested different. I made a *bunch* of bad fraps because no one thought to mention that. The extra fat is needed for consistency
keylimerose3 points1y ago
caramel frappuccino;
1. pump frap roast into cup (2 pumps for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti) 2. fill cup with desired milk choice to first line (standard is whole milk) 4. pour into the blender 5. add caramel syrup pumps 6. add ice 7. add coffee base 8. blend on 1 9. pour frappuccino into cup 10. add whip and lid 11. hand off with a straw
if it is a caramel creme frappuccino skip the frap roast and use creme base instead of coffee base !!
Mayachees2 points1y ago
Caramel drizzle on top of whip. 😊
keylimerose1 points1y ago
yayayayay thank u
Mayachees2 points1y ago
Strawberry Frappuccino also gets purée in the bottom of the cup.
nerdyoats2 points1y ago
I believe they discontinued that in the US. They no longer get puree in the bottom of the cup, or at least not officially. Sometimes I'll do it anyway if I'm feeling fancy and have extra time, though.

ADHD and dyscalcula-having coffee bean here!
Matcha still confuse me. Honestly, if i were making a tall, i just use the 2-3-4 ratio for matcha scoops, fill milk to the proper line, add ice, and shake. How i remember it is that matcha drinks get one scoop less than the number of pumps listed for the size on the shaker.
Caramel frap, like all fraps, follow the 2-3-4 ratio for pumps as well! Add frap roast pumps following 2-3-4, milk to the bottom line and pour contents into blender. Then add syrup, also following 2-3-4, as well as coffee base (creme if it's a creme frap) and ice and then blend on the appropriate setting. Add whip and drizzle and serve.
Strawberry creme fraps are virtually the same as caramel fraps! Just substitute the the frap roast for the strawberry puree and sub the caramel syrup for classic syrup and you got it! The great thing about the fraps is that they mostly all follow the 2-3-4 ratio, which is usually listed on the coffee base syrup. So if you ever forget how many, look there and you have your guide! EDIT: Another way to remember it is that hot americanos also use that same 2-3-4 ratio for espresso shots.
The refreshers are great because all the instructions are on the shakers! Add your ingredients from the bottom up. So when doing a strawberry acai, add base to the proper fill line, then water/lemonade/milk to that line, then syrups and inclusions if called for, add ice and shake!
I hope this helps! I've been working at Starbucks for four months so I'm sure there's things i could have gotten wrong, but what I've written is how I do things. Best of luck to you! You'll get the hang of it in time. 😁
wtfae2 points1y ago
I’m going to cry. Thank you so much. Thank you thank you thank you.
nerdyoats1 points1y ago
Of course!! Starbucks drinks get confusing sometimes, but I've found that those ratios for pumps, scoops, and shots are often repeated in other things! Venti sized iced drinks are often the exception to most rules. Otherwise 2-3-4 for fraps pumps and hot Americano shots, 3-4-5 for syrups most other drinks, and 1-2-2 for espresso in hot drinks are your foundations. The rest will come with time and practice. When in doubt, check in with another barista on bar with you to make sure you remember it right. I find myself double checking how many shots drinks get all the time, even after being there for four months and also working at two other cafes previously. Chances are your fellow partners will understand and help you out! We've all been green beans at some point in our careers!
