Any advice for a newbie? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I just applied to Starbucks and I am awaiting a reply. I have previous experience but I am really nervous. Anything you’d wish someone told you starting out? Any help appreciated thanks :)

don’t be so hard on yourself! everyone was in your shoes once and can understand how difficult it is to adjust into the atmosphere of starbucks

training is literally just 3 days of a tour around the store and some occasional drink making, you’ll begin to pick up on things to do and get into a rhythm after a couple of weeks

as a 320*****, i came into starbucks thinking i’d be put on bar at first but i got stuck on reg for at least a month and it made me dread every single day of working because speaking to customers my entire shift made my social battery die quick. be prepared to just be put on reg for a while and if you really want bar time i’d recommend working mid-nights because it gets slower or ask your shift for some bar time whenever you can squeeze in!

Ok thanks! Did it take you long to memorize drink combinations? I think I’m worried about that the most

i went home and wrote out a good amount of the recipes of the basic drinks and i didn’t really study but writing it out helped me memorize, but being on bar and putting it in action helped me a lot. it took me about 2-3 weeks to finally be confident in the main basic drinks. some other baristas told me it took them around 3-6 months to fully be comfortable at their job so patience is key!!

my biggest tip is that if you’re on reg and have some down time, you can click on random drinks and look on the right hand side to get comfortable with the recipes of the drinks!

good luck! you got this :)
