Vacation time….? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Apprehensive-Meep
Okay so I am so confused. I’m a 288 and I only have 10 vacation hours. Am I just stupid or am I being robbed? I haven’t used a single lick of my vacation hours since I started and I thought they started piling up after your one year. My one year was 6 months ago, what gives?

I would check with your SM and/or check the partner hub through the work computer/iPad. I had a similar issue but it turned out I actually had 40-something hours, they just weren’t visible to me in teamworks.

I’m your second year of working you can make up to 40 hours of vacation time. All it says in the handbook is that it is given on a prorated basis. I have no idea how they calculate that though. I guess it’s 1 hour for every 40 hours you work?

I work a little under 30 hours a week every week, besides a month in school where I was only working 12, do you think that would add up?

I’m not sure! Maybe someone who knows more than us will comment hahaha

I can't remember what it was but I think there may be a certain amount of time you have to work weekly or you have to have been there for like, a year or something

so i believe it’s 1 hr of vacay time for 30hr work week. you have to work 30 hrs in that ONE work week in order to get the 1hr of vacay but i could most definitely be wrong.

this does not seem correct because you begin to accrue after 1 year, so 6 months at 30 hours gives (30 hours/ week x23 weeks) + 12 hours= 702 hours/ 40 hours since you accrue 1 vacation hour per 40 work hours = 17.55 vacation hours

1 vacation hour per 40 worked is widespread misinformation. People who have been employed for between 1-3 years earn 1 vacation hour per every 52 worked.

Op said they worked less than 30 hours a week for 5 months and then 12 hours a week for 1 month for a total of about 648 hours.

648/52=12.46 vacation hours which is closer to what they saw on their paystub.

I checked with my SM and they said that they were using PTO to help me out with school so I would be able to pay for food so they were just using it without my knowledge. They’re cool with me and were just doing it to help, but I told them that now that my hours are more steady to chillax with it. Thank you guys for the help!
