coverage and non-coverage?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by faeriberri
Hi! I'm currently on my last day of training, and I'm looking at my schedule for this coming up week and I'm seeing I'm scheduled for both coverage and non-coverage. I'm hoping to find the answer for what these terms mean. Thank you in advance :)

Non-coverage is when you’re not on the floor, usually for like training or meetings

It might mean they are planning to double you up with another partner on the floor. We have new hires shadow a partner, so they both are doing the same position.
You might also have more training. We are doing fall training atm.

non-coverage typically means you’re off the floor; it’s used when people are closing (in the time period after the store itself is closed), when somebody is scheduled to put the order away (unlikely that this is the case for your first shifts lol), etc. it’s also just used by managers sometimes because they’re only “allowed” a certain amount of coverage labour (i believe; someone correct me if i’m wrong), but it lets them work around it in the system to have more partners scheduled at a given time!
