Dreams about work (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by scmfckwaido
Does anyone else have any stressful dreams about work? I just had one last night where I went to Starbucks for my markout and got a cheese danish with no cream cheese and they refused to give me a different one.

Also the night before my first day at Starbucks, I had a nightmare that they just tossed me into work and I didn’t know how to read the sides of the cups unless it was a pink drink and so many customers were getting upset with me.

And another dream I had was that raspberry came back and it was red.

What are your guys’ work dreams?

I have stress dreams where im working the till and whenever customers try to order something, they only speak gibberish and I cannot understand them at all. Then my SM will come out and start yelling at me for not being able to understand plain english

Another one i have is where im on bar, and suddenly theres this huge backlog of drinks i have to make, but I cant read the stickers because theyre written with words that dont make sense. Then customers start getting angry and yelling at me over the glass divider behind the bar, or theyre trying to make changes to their drinks but i cant understand anything

Not fun ):

When I first started at a drive thru store I kept having dreams about people coming to my house to get drinks
sorrysmithy 3 points 1y ago
this is hilarious

Like they’d come to the window too and it was those dreams where you’re like half awake and you wake up thinking you need to get people these drinks 😭

woke up from one this morning. almost every day, a customer orders “five pup cups in a bag”. the other day she berated me for the small plastic cups, scolding they’re very bad for dogs. i was so shocked by the audacity that i just flatly said, “ok” and walked away from the window

in my dream, i asked her if she was joking about the plastic cup remark. she doubled down, so i told her, “giving all of your dogs vanilla syrup and heavy cream every day is really bad for your dogs”. had nightmares about being on bar for months when i first started

Yes, all the time. I've had like 4 in the past two weeks. I had some two nights in a row where I woke up in a panic in the middle of the night because I thought there were more dishes to do, then the next night I had a freak out that we did not have any inclusions left. I had one a few nights ago where for some odd reason our handoff station was a block away from our store, and a couple of nights ago I had one where I got really backed up at bar and for some odd reason just could not make the drinks, like every drink was wrong.

imaging having to walk a block away to hand off every drink holy shit

I don’t have dreams about work but I have weird dreams that involve my coworkers. I had a horrible dream where I was at my high school with one of my coworkers who graduated with me. We went to the third floor of the school (it doesn’t actually have a third floor) and in a stairwell we somehow awoke an entombed serial killer who was in walls. We both ran for the door but I made it out first and closed the door in front of my coworker and the killer got him. I then ran out of the school to grab the police and when we entered the stairwell on the first floor we found my coworkers blood and viscera all over the stairwells.

Told him about it and we had a good laugh about how I just sacrificed him to save my ass.

once i had a dream that i was making 20 iced vanilla lattes during peak but for some reason they all had my
name on them, probably bc iced vanilla lattes are my go-to drink!!

I had a dream once where for some reason all of my coworkers were in the back and were unable/unwilling to come on the floor to help me so i was running the floor completely alone at peak. It was awful 😭

The dreams when you try to close the store but an endless amount of customers try to get in and order fraps....

I haven’t worked at Starbucks in 7 years and I recently had a dream where we ran out of mocha in the middle of a rush and a disaster ensued. Repression is real.

I have constant stress dreams about being hours late for work and showing up naked
Kind_Fox_951 5 points 1y ago
I definitely don’t have nightmares but I dream about work all the time and it’s annoying because it feels like I’m actually working and not relaxing.

I had a dream where I had to open (I'm a closer but I've opened before) bc I was doing a favor for my manager. && for some reason when I got to my store, I started working on the open but my shift never showed up 🙃 && then it was opening time && there a line already wrapped around my store && I was alone 🥴 (sb: I'm not a shift, so I don't have keys but nothing needs to make sense in dream land)
therockynetwork 3 points 1y ago
My husband said he's caught talking in my sleep saying, "you can try it with mocha next time". Don't remember the dream but id like to think i was sticking it to someone.

Not a nightmare about work per say but other nightmares will have the beeping from the headset in it, like it's been logged into my brain as "bad noise" so it comes up in nightmares

One actually about work customers start crawling over the divider under the plexiglass, horror movie style. Just squeezing between them with distorted limbs and crawling. That one gets worse during PSL season
the-OG-darkshrreder 2 points 1y ago
Yes, i tend to work in my sleep. I’m a closer so i tend to do the 7pm rush the close. I’ll occasionally wake up in a cold sweat cuz i forgot to do something. Like change small wears or dump the iced coffee the night before
Kayp22296 2 points 1y ago
I had a stress dream last week about forgetting to make cold brew
bryceofswadia 2 points 1y ago
I closed one night and I was so exhausted that I kind dissociated for the ride home and so I went to bed and dreamt I was still at work past closing and our boss wouldn’t let us close and we had a line full of cars at midnight. I also couldn’t read any of the labels (because doing anything with your hands is very hard in dreams) or make drinks. It was a mess.

Never had any nightmares but I recently dreamt that my store finally got the new espresso machines… it was a nice dream 😪

I have stress dreams about warming and egg bites because of a previous manager. Basically in the dream I keep trying to heat up all of these sets of egg bites and I have so many of them. I keep dropping one of the egg bites in the pair so I have to keep putting in new sets and the whole time my manager is yelling at me from across the store that CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 15 MINUTES THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, which is actually a direct quote, but the way.

Edit: I also have two separate recurring dreams about older white men coming in with guns and cornering me in the back room and shooting me.
ricardimus 2 points 1y ago
Yes unfortunately, and they range from monotony, to busy nightmare, and sometimes legitimate nightmares. One was a scene of a mass shooting which I still remember so vividly years later.
BabySlitherking 2 points 1y ago
Any time I take a post-shift nap, I have stress dreams about running out of product or impossible customizations on drinks 🙃
CHEAHAEHC 1 points 1y ago
Never cause I don’t give a fuck to them
Tattooed_Bat 1 points 1y ago
Yep! I absolutely hate those dreams
Balisong_Witch 1 points 1y ago
I have dreams where customers just keep verbally harassing me and I get angry at them for it, but they’re so obstinate.

It would only really be a complete dream if my manager sided with the customer or something and I got fired and my life fell into shambles. Haven’t gotten that far yet though.
paigemclachlan 1 points 1y ago
Not a bad one but I DID dream that Jason Momoa walked in and gave me a $20 tip. I cried and woke up. I don’t know what the hell it all was supposed to mean but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I currently work for sbux but a couple of months ago I had a second job along with sbux and worked for a sportswear shoe store (rhymes with mike) i would have dreams where my bedroom was half a hand off plane and half a shoe store and I would have customers yelling at me asking me where there drinks where and the other half asking me if they I can get a shoe for them in their size but I didn’t have any equipment or the shoes they wanted since it was my bedroom, anyways that’s what happens when you work 7 days a week lmao
Stellar-naut 1 points 1y ago
I dream that heavy cream and Carmel drizzle spill all over the floor while I'm in the middle of a rush. Most of the time, I'm serving aliens?? One yelled at me in my dream asking me where its cheese vanilla frappe is.

I think I need a vacation.
reclusivegiraffe 1 points 1y ago
i have starbucks nightmares ALL THE TIME. one time i dreamt we had blueberry cake pops that we were not allowed to sell and customers weren’t supposed to know about them. yet, they sent them to us anyway and we had them — we just couldn’t sell or advertise them
Nigee_Ogee 1 points 1y ago
I have dreams about coming to work late for a morning shift. And I barely work in mornings lol
normaldud 1 points 1y ago
When I first started working for the bux I would get awful dreams of never ending register orders and the oven never stopped beeping. It was the same one every time.
