tbh even when I was trained my trainer told me it takes 2-3 months minimum for people to be confident on bar. I am now a trainer myself and honestly if you can make everything and only have trouble sequencing after one month thats really good!!! Just build good habits with correct sequencing and youll have the hang of it in no time! :) also im sorry your coworkers are acting that way, i promise you none of them were perfectly sequencing or doing everything right as a green bean, keep your head up youre doing awesome!

I always tell new people: its okay if youre slow the first few months. Just work on knowing how to sequence and getting confident that youre doing things correctly and the speed will come with that.
Its better to be slow and do things right than it is to rush and make a ton of mistakes. And its easy for seasoned baristas to forget how hard it is when you first start. Give yourself some time.
Also: everyone spills drinks. It happens. Anyone can mock you and pretend they haven’t but they 100% have lol

Im sorry your fellow partners are treating you that way, if it makes you feel any better you are honestly way ahead of the game! I was still struggling with recipes months into working. Sequencing takes a while especially because you have to learn how the store itself runs, on top of the drinks. When I work with green beans and they mess something up, I spill an iced latte on my bar so they don’t feel bad (literally, I have done so several times. Its pretty funny, I clean it up!) Nobody is perfect, things will spill, but if something is hot just make sure you are safe and don’t get burnt!

I definitely feel you on the embarrassment part. It’s hard to not feel that way even after being with the company for a while. I think then it makes you feel like you’re not supposed to make mistakes. But there’s no getting around them. Shit happens and we have to learn from the multiple mistakes that you’ll do more than once. It takes time to form habits of checking what milk customers want in frapps and seeing about whip and all that stuff.
Even spilling a drink sucks. It feels awful but trust me, the floors and counter have seen worse days and it’s definitely not the craziest thing that’s gonna happen to you. I’m still trying to take my own advice but just take it easy.
Dealing with depression and anxiety really sucks and then when you’re thrown into the crazy environment that the BUX is, it definitely doesn’t help in the beginning. It’s really hard to keep your head up and stay positive in my experience, but one day you’ll wake up and you’ll realize that you’ve gained confidence in your sequencing and skills.
As for your coworkers, the cliques suck. It’s gonna feel like you’re not liked. It’s gonna suck. I really don’t have much advice for the people that are constantly judgmental and aren’t understanding of the shit show that is being a new partner.
Overall, keep your head up as much as possible. Be overly nice to the shitty customers and be as kind and sweet to the rude coworkers. Maybe it’ll occur to them that you’re learning and they don’t need to treat you like that. For now, I’m sorry. I know it sucks. But trust me, there are thousands of partners that once felt how you do. It does get better with practice. I promise. Trusting that is the hardest part though.

lol what losers, i guarantee you they’ve done some severely embarrasing stuff to but they wont bring that up. spilling a drink is not even that embarrasing either lol try eating shit on some wet coffee grounds on the floor 😂 everyone starts somewhere and at the end of the day its just a minimum wage coffee shop job! do your best to improve and become stronger but you, just like everyone else are entitled to make mistakes and grow on your journey. and like i said…….its minimum wage :) not the military :) so dont be working TOO too hard especially if they wanna be rude like that 🤨

its okay to make small errors that can easily be cleaned 5 minutes later. no big deal. i feel you, though. ive taught myself to not give a shit as we're all here to work at the end of the day and to get paid. nothing more, nothing less. what happens at work stays at work.
