Can someone explain to me the free drinks/food? I’m a little lost with it. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Ayeoo so you’re allowed three drinks max during your shift. Any size. Any customization ect.
One thirty minutes before your shift. One during and one no more than thirty minutes after.
And only one food mark out during your shift on top of that.

As for the days you are not working you’re (I believe) still allowed one food/drink mark out a day. Preferably go through the cafe for receiving it just in case there’s any miscommunication because many partners aren’t aware they’re still allowed the mark outs and will only discount it.
Do be very mindful though on how many mark outs drink and food wise you receive in a given day- think of your partner numbers like your browser history that you can’t delete. It’ll track you in the system and at any given point in time your mark outs can be reviewed. If there’s more than allowed; it would be considered a sort of « violation » so when you’re going to a separate store do clarify whether it’ll be mark out or discount.

Hope this helps!

Edit : spelling

We get unlimited drinks when on the clock. Never heard of 3 drinks max on the clock. That might be a regional or SM rule.

My store does unlimited during our shifts. I think it’s a covid thing?

I think the official rule is the three drink markout but most stores just allow the baristas to make whatever drinks they want on the clock. It really doesn't make a difference to Starbucks' bottom line since most people don't have more than 2 or 3 drinks anyways and allows the baristas to get familiar with everything Starbucks has to offer.

You know.. it might be, I guess my stores never got wind of that. The only time I’ve ever seen my baristas grab drinks like that would be if they’re uninformed or don’t care. I have worked the entirety of covid though so far..I haven’t heard the rule change except for the off shift mark outs. This is interesting !

Édit : especially now that I think of it even when my district comes in (they often show up) we’ll ask them if it’s a discount or mark out as well..

Mmm…I’ve never heard of unlimited. I’ve worked in separate stores in different states and the rules have always been 3 max.

Oh thank god I get like 10 drinks a day to sample and I thought I was going to get my ass kicked reading this
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
Honestly it doesn’t hit the company’s bottom line and they want us sampling anyway so we can sell the drinks.

awesome thank you! If I were to get a violation what happens? I wasn’t told about the rules and I don’t think I’ve broken any but my anxiety gets the best of me haha

Thank you for the award !

But no worries, so basically Starbucks typically has a way of « dealing with things » I quote that because, eventually at one point that’s exactly what you’ll hear.
Now I’m assuming you’re new, they won’t be too heavy on you for your first time but do be mindful that the company does view it as stealing. You’ll likely be pulled aside and confronted- depending how offending your mark outs have been whether the company declares it as intentional or accidental is really to their discretion. However after confrontation it’s between three outcomes; typically a warning, maybe a write up and I’ve even heard it going as far as being fired for it. It really just depends.

Also same goes for getting food without having it marked out. Making out essentially does two things 1) factors in our inventory and 2)That’s labor for the store which ultimately turns into your labor hours-I.e. your pay.

When you get to the window tell them you want to use your partner numbers. Then you give them those and bam.
