Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

we have a customer who keeps finding baristas (ESPECIALLY our minors!!) on their social media and reaching out; the fact that i have to add this to my own instagram is making me angry (i.redd.it)

we’ve had multiple partners reply to her saying that they don’t feel comfortable with her reaching out to them as all we’re doing is providing a service; she stopped for about three months, but has since found most of our partners instagrams and facebooks and won’t stop messaging us.

We had a similar problem at my store, but it was a customer and he was sexually harassing a barista and found her social media. Management did jack shit.

If you can get management to ban her from the store, do it. You can use screenshots as proof. Even then, if EVERYONE is affected or in agreement, you all can just refuse her service.

Otherwise, my best advice is that screenshotting, blocking, and reporting is free. Tell everyone, especially the minors, that they are in control of their social media, and that they have these tools in their disposal. They don’t even have to respond or interact with her when she makes contact.

our manager apparently only found out about the issue today, and asked me to spot her out next time she comes in to make sure they’re able to talk to her. i just hope something can get done about it; she’s found minors Snapchat’s in the past and one of our partners college emails today, i just want it to be over

Ew that’s really spooky. Hope it goes well and she stays 20 feet away from your store.

thanks, friend! i’ll update this post whenever our manager talks to her

Also forgot to add, technically management can’t fire you for calling police and obtaining a restraining order as it was outside the store.

Have any/all of you blocked the customer?
j_delightful [OP] 18 points 1y ago
a few have, some are afraid to because they’re scared of causing conflict if she comes into the store; i haven’t simply because i want to be able to tell her to back the fuck off if she comes into my messages (which she has, frequently)

She should definitely be blocked by everyone, she isn't entitled to your time when you're not at work! I would also agree with everyone else saying the same here - tell your SM if they don't already know.

What a ridiculous situation LOL you would think everyone would have enough sense not to track down *and* message an employee at a store they went to... Even if it was a nice message, one and done, it's still a little weird lmao

I blame costumer connections for this. We usually small talk with the public, literally not even me can tell while I am at the register which exposed me to so many creeps. My co worker proceed to overly compliment the men in the store. I literally had to lie to multiple dudes at time when they walk in the store cause I refuse to get added on to their social media. Most of the men that walk into my store are old.

Sorry, but IMO you guys shouldn’t be dealing w this on your own corporate needs to step in somehow and get it taken care of
ThinkPan 19 points 1y ago
your optimism is inspiring but I don't think corporate cares about us at all

Call the police. This is stalking.

What does she *want*?
j_delightful [OP] 50 points 1y ago
it seems to vary from person to person? she tends to compliment my hair or just send messages to me about how great it is to see everyone (i never responded to her messages before this point); today she found one of our college students COLLEGE EMAILS, sent him this weird essay about her moms cancer, and then gave her his phone number? idk it’s all super weird

I don't want to worry you but that is very concerning. Like ST concerning.

She really sounds like she has mental issues. Thats creepy and scary. Stay safe. Protect yourself and your work buddys.

I had a customer that thankfully was too old for social media but gave me her phone number 6 or 7 times. She wouldn't stop inviting me to concerts because she was getting catfished by someone claiming to be the lead singer of an 80's band (cant remember the name rn)

Can you all just not block them?
lavendersigil 3 points 1y ago
It’s time for the fucking ban hammer. File an incident report, get your dm and sm involved. This isn’t okay, and it’s very dangerous.
