So, the regular strawberries and cream frapp is not a layered frapp. It only gets whip on top. There is a promotional frapp currently in some places called the strawberry funnel cake frapp that does get whip on the top and bottom, but the regular STCF doesn’t.

You are correct, it gets a tiny squirt of purée in the bottom. I always forget that part because building the base (purée and milk) usually leaves behind a small amount of purée at the bottom so it isn’t necessarily missed most of the time.
clumsycalico15 points1y ago
Yep, seconding this. Purée in the bottom, no whip. I do purée, milk, dump in blender, purée in cup, finish building drink on that one so I don’t mess it up. (Whereas with other fraps that get bottom ingredients I’ll build the whole drink and then do the cup while it blends.)

What does the funnel cake one taste like?
I never order frapps as they are too sweet and I only enjoy like the first two sips of them. After that they aren't worth eating. I liked the one summer where you guys sold the really small size - smaller than a tall. It was a perfect sized summer treat.

Honestly the funnel cake frappe isn't very good imo. In my store we all agreed it was a bit like leftover milk from a fruity cereal, and that coffee in it at all was gross. I did make a cream one a few times with cinnamon dolce when it was still available, to try and make a more redeemable funnel cake flavor. It was better, but still not great. Imo this flavor was a compete miss and we shoulda just had smores again ;_;
kizzythaboss1 points1y ago
I basically make it a churro that way but with blonde espresso. I can only tolerate the blonde now.
tenthwalker1 points1y ago
With coffee it is v bad and without coffee it's tolerable for a sip or two but definitely sickening after that

There have been 3 or 4 recipes for the strawberry creme frap in the past 4 years. One of them did have whip on the bottom but that was changed 2+ years ago
potatopoisoning25 points1y ago
It was the “Serious Strawberry” lol. We got requests for it pretty frequently up until about last year. It was a promotional item from about 3 years ago that got a strawberry syrup as well as the purée and then more purée and whip at bottom and top. It was really good 😊
Bieb6 points1y ago
TIL the serious strawberry was LTO. I thought it just replaced the old one lmao
existenaliens6 points1y ago
Precisely. It's been altered several times, hence the confusion.
angrylilbean19 points1y ago
just purée on the bottom!
obviousthrowaway_5125 points1y ago
this is the answer!!
ImpressiveVariation09 points1y ago
There was a frappe a few years back that was called the serious strawberry I think and that one was pretty much just a strawberry frappe with whip on the top and bottom but they discontinued it and brought back just the regular strawberry frappe, although it’s still supposed to get purée on the bottom just no whip
kIose8 points1y ago
The recipe has changed so much. But this newer version of it only gets puree at the bottom. I wasn't aware of that until I was corrected by a newer barista trainer 3 weeks ago who had just reviewed the recipe cards. Sure enough when I went to look at the card she was right!
janedoe__053 points1y ago
the funnel cake ones get whip on bottom but i’m pretty sure that the strawberry creme just purée on the bottom - no whip
might be wrong tho

There was a strawberry frap way back when that got whip at the bottom I believe. But no, just puree on the bottom
IfuDidntCome2Party2 points1y ago
If you did make it wrong and your SSV didn't mention it to you soon after the order was out the window, then that doesn't help anyone in the future. Your SSV must have a million things going through their head, that shift.
Surprised you didn't ask about it, as soon as you got a breather.
OneRoseDark1 points1y ago
this is one a lot of people get wrong, so I'm gonna give you all the steps just in case.
1) puree + milk in the cup 2) dump in blender, add classic syrup, ice, and frap base 3) blend 4) puree in the cup, pour frap, whip, lid 5) hand off and connect
missthemac1 points1y ago
They way I learned is the 2016 version, so milk to the lower aline and then strawberry purée to the middle line, classic, creme base, whip on top. I really dislike the new recipe.
csaine1 points1y ago
Puree in the bottom, whip on top
here_forthefun1 points1y ago
Yes puree at the bottom. No whip at the bottom though. Whip on top and no puree on top
mama_bibi1 points1y ago
The serious strawberry frap came out for a bit and it was layered. But then they brought back the strawberry creme frap and it doesn't
deeciphered1 points1y ago
Yeah I was taught to put a little extra puree at the bottom of the cup but no whip on the bottom
LZARDKING1 points1y ago
No whip at the bottom no purée on the top whip, those are pretty common errors though
victorious_gem1 points1y ago
it only get puree at the bottom, whip on top. sbux changes they're frap recipes so often for standard drinks && add new drinks to the menu so often. it's irritating
