What did they say?
[deleted] [OP] 26 points 1y ago
They had an attitude the whole time and they assumed I’d use their discount for their friend’s drink. I told him I’d be nice (since I’m on my last week before I quit anyway) but the next time he can’t use it for his friend’s drink. (He used his discount. Not the free drink)

if they pay for it they should be able to buy their friend a drink though right? (not excusing attitude but that should be fine)

I’m a 274, I was taught that it is okay for a partner to use their discount when buying drinks meant for other people, as long as they are the ones paying for it. I’ve never been questioned/corrected on this when I’ve done so myself at other stores, so I’ve assumed that is the policy.

I apologize on behalf of that 320 (I’m one myself). I’ve been hearing a lot of bad stuff about them and idk why they’re acting so high and mighty when they’re still relatively new hires 😭

Naw everything after the 30s have been hell on my end and I'm a 28

It’s normal even for the most “established” partners to roll up to my store, order a car full of beverages and pay on one order and have their mark out on one beverage and discount on all the others. Difference is we’re happy to see them relaxing and enjoying their day off and everyone is all smiles. The discount is for whatever the partner pays for, not just for things the partner personally consumes

As I’ve said before, I was told this two years ago and I was never updated on the policy so my bad.

You can use your discount to buy drinks for the whole town as long as you’re paying for them and no one reimburses you.

We don’t know anything about the 320 except that you gave them wrong information and didn’t like how they responded.

We have a 320 at my store who is doing a great job. This bashing I’m seeing everywhere is honestly really irritating.

As a 251, I’m more irritated by a 269 with a superiority complex who doesn’t even know discount policy.

A 269 who is still at this late date giving bad information. This is like the partner at a different store who couldn’t function to give me my mark out because I had my numbers in my app and scanned it. Acting like fusty old boomers with their misinformation lack of technology

I’ve already realized my mistake. I took a year and a half off from Starbucks and regret coming back so yeah.

First of all they were rude before this even happened so back off.

Second of all my shift even asked me about it and I confirmed with my shift.

Third of all, if the shoe fits you might as well wear it. I’ve dealt with a lot of rude partners and I’m not alone in this. I don’t have a superiority complex I am burnt the fuck out. I’m going off what I was told as a green bean two years ago.

That’s great that you have a great 320. I do too however a lot of them have been rude and disrespectful. Like I said in another comment, I’m sure my fellow 269’s had a few rude ones thrown in too. I’m not saying we are better than anyone else.

Well as long as your shift was wrong too, I guess it’s perfectly reasonable that you’ve been doing your job wrong for two years. You’re not supposed to pay attention to the training modules, anyway.

Between being burnt out and bad at your job, I’m inclined to believe the 320 was not the problem here.

Happy for you that you’re moving on.

I took a year and a half break but go off I guess.

I’m glad I’m leaving too. Barista toxicity is worse than when I started as a green bean.

Have a great night.
