From "Apple Crisp Macchiato celebrates autumn in a cup" from Partner Hub
"As the world continues to live through a pandemic, with many finding themselves taking on new roles and juggling several responsibilities, the team discovered that people throughout history have had to adjust in similar ways during complex times and how some products like lipstick helped them regain their self-identity and confidence. This discovery inspired the team to create a fall beverage that would not only bring comfort but would give customers a sense of stability and a boost of confidence when they hold and sip the beverage.
\[...\]
In spring 2020, the team began testing and tasting a bushel of apple-flavored favorites, including apple maple syrup, apple cider donuts, and a variety of apple pies, cakes and crisps."
Maybe instead of trying to reinvent lipstick, Starbucks should have a limited menu which would be in line with its reasoning for staying open throughout the entire pandemic. And they detailed in the article that they started developing this product when the pandemic started in America.

The drink tastes terrible. The only confidence I get from that drink is I’m confident I won’t waste my money on it. Corporate is so out of touch with what’s actually happening in the stores
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]43 points1y ago
Lol, I like the drink. They're not out of touch. They just don't care. Have you read the new Facial Covering - Customer Scenarios and Talking Points? It says that if a customer refuses to wear a facial covering (which is only relevant if you've got a government mandate, as Starbucks doesn't give a shit anymore if customers wear masks) and refuses to leave, take their order, and if they're still disruptive, give their order to them for free.
dharvey199541 points1y ago
So we are rewarding crappy behavior?? Lovely. They just don’t care about us at all.
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]5 points1y ago
Exactly. They're aware of the crappy behavior and how common it is, they don't care to do anything to prevent it (even if the way to prevent it is as simple as operating as drive-thru only), and they tell us not only to tolerate it but to reward it. Starbucks consistently favors its customers (that is, their money) over its partners because they view customers as valuable and partners as replaceable.
Merced_x17 points1y ago
I legit don’t serve them. I hand them a mask and if they refuse I politely say “I’m so sorry, I would really like to be able to serve you, but there’s a mask mandate and if you could just wear the mask while you order and pick up your drink we’d be able to get you what you want.” Usually works, there are a stubborn few who storm out and then come back with a mask as if I don’t recognize them. What a world we live in.
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]6 points1y ago
Good for you. The other day an old couple came in and tried to order coffees at the hand-off plane. The barista asked, "Do y'all have masks?" "We just want two cups of coffee." "I understand, but you have to wear a mask in our store." I was grabbing them a couple of masks since the barista was busy making drinks since it was peak, and the old couple left and never came back. I was happy, as we don't need business from people who don't care about our safety and don't bother to read signs on the front door of a business.

Couldn’t agree more

I can’t wear lipstick with a damn mask, Starbucks

(ETA: i am all for masks. I like the masks. I want to keep people safe and not smile at customers. But I always felt pretty in lipstick and I can’t wear lipstick and so why is the siren trying to make a correlation between coffee and lipstick when half the example given isn’t even applicable??? it’s just rubbing salt in the wound. And also: ITS NOT THAT DEEP BRO)
(second and also: the drink tastes like bath and body works anyway)
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]6 points1y ago
LOL! I'm pretty sure the lipstick thing is the weirdest thing Starbucks has ever said, and this is Starbucks we're talking about.
FoxyOnTheRun_1 points1y ago
No yeah I’m just torn between hilarity and low key genuine offense lmao. Like this stuff is wild, who are they trying to convince
Also I’d like to formally recant my stance on the drink. I tried it hot on my ten and it was waaaaaaayyyy better that way. Like I actually enjoyed it. Still tastes like soap iced though.
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]2 points1y ago
I try my best to suspend my intelligence and dignity to work for this company, but I couldn't help but get pissed off reading this article. The fact that there care more about lipstick's effect on people's emotions than literally saving their lives by operating in a safe and responsible way during a global pandemic. You'd have to be an extremely gullible person to fall for this. Starbucks is not even attempting to hide its greed anymore. If I didn't think I'd get fired for it, I might share this article with the media. It's that fucking offensive to me. I showed it to my shift supervisor, and he was like, "Did a Starbucks employee write that or just a customer? Yikes."
cyan_reynolds23 points1y ago
I mean the drink is alright in my book but that's all just bullshit
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]17 points1y ago
Pretty much all of Starbucks' propaganda is bullshit
jdsalingersdog21 points1y ago
A SENSE OF STABILITY
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]12 points1y ago
More like a sense of delusion
spacebrain4202 points1y ago
Yeah until we run out of that syrup too. This is such a joke.
darkwolf52317 points1y ago
Syrup is ok(so help me if I see a tik tok drink for it) drink is gross 10/10 would not try again
NervosaNervous11 points1y ago
The syrup itself is good. It just does not pair well with espresso in any way, shape, or form. A frapp, on the other hand…
shouldvewroteitdown2 points1y ago
Is it good in chai
NervosaNervous1 points1y ago
Very good in chai
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]1 points1y ago
I thought the Frappuccino was really good
Honey_girl_8 points1y ago
Lol I tell people it tastes a bit like a Yankee candle
philosopher_cat_lady [OP]10 points1y ago
"Imagine if you melted a Yankee candle and poured it in a crosshatch pattern on top of a macchiato"
uwumoment3 points1y ago
the frapp sounds and smells good (i haven’t had it yet!) but the drinks just taste wayyy too sweet. maybe because when i heard the name apple crisp i thought it would be fruitier, but it’s just straight sugar. not my thing unfortunately
sophrologie_2 points1y ago
its just so unfortunate that i’m severely allergic to apples and now have to go through the process of getting work accommodations
