If I work a 7.5 hr shift, I am I supposed to have two 10s and a 30 lunch?
I got my 10 an hour after I arrived, my lunch 3.5 hrs later, and then nothing. We had coverage. I am just curious because I would have rather of had my break after lunch.

It might depends on your state's labor laws but I think for where I'm from, I get 2 breaks and a lunch for any shifts longer than 7?

Yea you get a 10, one 30 and a 10. Doesn’t matter which state. Starbucks goes by Seattle labor laws at all starbucks

Thank you! I’ll be advocating for myself better from here on.

does your store have the daily coverage report on a readily available clip board (the two ive worked at have), if so, check your breaks there. It’s totally possible a shift accidentally crossed out the wrong 10, mistakes happen

It doesn’t, when I was in Montana you needed a lunch at 6 hours. Now in California it is required by the 5th hour. Also for any shift over 6 hours, 2 breaks and a lunch are required.

Anything below 6, One 10
6-just below 12 hours, 10-30-10
12+, 10-30-10-30-10
Hope this helps

Thank you. Next time I’ll ask for my second 10

Please do, that goes against OSHA guidelines, especially with the space between your meal and leaving

Probably not true. Most states don’t even require breaks, unless you’re a minor.

Breaks are a Starbucks policy, they’re supposed to follow them regardless of the states labor laws (unless the laws allot for more than the policy, ie some states mandate 15s instead of 10s and Starbucks in those locations give 15s). I live in SC which has almost no labor laws and I’m still required by Starbucks to give my partners their breaks even though as far as the state law is concerned I don’t have to give them any no matter how long the shift.

I suppose this is why I got quite a few 5.75 hour shifts - to avoid hitting the 6 hour mark.

On the DCR, you’ll see the schedule for the whole floor for the day. It’ll show how many breaks you’re supposed to get. The key should be on the bottom left side to show the difference between lunch and breaks. They don’t always line up well. So there will be sometimes where it schedules your lunch at a time and you have to run it maybe an hour before that or a half hour after. Usually this happens because of protected peak. But you should still be getting every designated break. And as I saw, you said in another post, just being your own advocate helps :) My old store wanted to play the game of my state not having efficient labor laws and wouldn’t give me a 10 during my 4 hour days. And when I showed them the DCR and the PartnerHub docs, I started getting my 10s.
