we’re in the middle of a global pandemic where a lot of people have to work multiple jobs just to get by.. i feel like if your SM went out of their way to purposely get your friend fired, that was 100% personal. i’ve never heard of this rule before and ive been an SSV w starbucks for a year. that’s something that can be brought up professionally (in person) and corrected but geez…? thats doing waaaay too much.

So, I almost got fired for “conflict of interest” when I was a store manager. I won’t go into the details of my experience (opening up a taproom). But what I did learn is that as an SSV or Barista it doesn’t apply according to business and ethics. They aren’t high enough up in either company. If for some reason it does end up going further I would call business and ethics.
But honestly, what a shit person if she is trying to fire her for having two jobs.

I know this was a rule a while ago, you can find some reddit posts on it as well. The only exception to this rule is working at a licensed store. Most SM's are pretty relaxed about it but yea, it's not allowed bc of the noncompete contract we all signed when we got hired & they can 100% be fired over it
