Just sharing some wild customer experiences cause I know y’all get it 😂(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by auberror138
So yesterday morning, I’m working an open, and our first customer of the day orders a tall pike with 5 raw sugars. This lady seemed super nice, thanked us for being open and moved on. We go threw a small line of our other open shift regulars. Once we cleared the line, I went to the back breifly to throw a dish in the sink. I didn’t realize that my coworker had gone to the restroom, so the floor was breifly unattended for maybe 30 seconds. I mean this in all seriousness, I hear a loud bang, and hollering. I thought maybe a coworker had fallen so I’m running around looking for the source and can’t find it. I make my way back to the cafe and the tall pike lady has flung open our drive through window, and has half of her torso on the indside! I literally didn’t know what to do I just stared at her and she goes “can I get 5 more sugars please” like GIRL WHAT. I gave her the sugar and politely suggested she stop at the drive through speaker next time, that way she wouldn’t have yell for us. This lady goes “it seemed so much easier this way!” Easier to give me a heart attack maybe!! GoodGod!
If y’all got crazy customer stories feel free to leave em in the comments! 😂

Had a customer literally ask what time i get off so she could fight me because we ran out of caramel. I said 12 if you're brave. She was not there at 12.

Nothing that wild but I’ve had grown men come behind the counter and walk all the way down to the back room door to ask for the bathroom code. The fact that we had to tell him to not come behind the bar…
mrcupcake186 points1y ago
Oh hell no at that point I would of made them leave because I would of been livid lol
goldqueen2872 points1y ago
I wish but it’s so common that I dislike being on bar. People want to make you do twice the work

There's a homeless lady who came into our store EVERY DAY, but she was quiet and kept to herself and always bought a drink so it was all cool.
Until one day she had some sort of crazy seizure, so we called an ambulance, but when the paramedics came, she kept pulling away and walking away from them. She couldn't talk at all (because of the seizure I think or maybe she was just scared) and she didnt have any id, which made the whole situation more tense.
Then for some reason the COPS showed up and dragged her out super violently, then came back in to tell me to grab her bags and bring them outside, so I did and she was being loaded up into the ambulance.
I didn't see her for months and months until she showed up yesterday and everything was back to normal
mollythewiz20 points1y ago
omg it sounds like she was having a stroke
bryceofswadia5 points1y ago
Protect and serve, I guess.
casprinjuniper4 points1y ago
Ah. So glad the cops protected you. 🤦🤦🤦
Does she look like she's doing okay?
handlelamp4 points1y ago
Well I'll be honest she never looked super healthy but she's back to normal and nothing has happened
voxinx35 points1y ago
probably the man who screamed at us while the drive thru window was closed because i wouldn’t serve him 15 minutes after we closed. Said he’d give me $20 for 1 coffee, meanwhile i was finishing the deposit, safe was open, money and all. told me to go fuck myself and other profanities. No thank you, i’d rather keep my job. 😌

"At least then I'll have a good time. You still won't get coffee."

We had an older woman who came in and grabbed a box off the pile from our delivery, shake it, assume it’s a box of tumblers (even though it was a very small box…) and try to leave with it. My shift stopped her and when she got caught, threw the box down, and started yelling curses. We were all so confused

Ugh just today this lady at the end of my shift. It was a mobile order, we were out of cold brew. I called out the name she came up I told her and asked if I could make her an iced coffee or another drink or give her a refund. She says let me call and ask so I went about my biz and ten minutes later she walks up and asks if her drink is ready. I said oh well you never told me what you wanted since we are out of cold brew. She looks at me with crazy eyes nd says ohhhh your out of cold brew?? All sarcastic and I said yes we only make so much each day and we ran out a few hours ago. So she goes ohh really okay so if I call corporate they will tell me your out of cold brew?? And I was just dumbfounded at this point and I was like I guess... And she was like ok I want you to write down your name and your district managers name. So I said sure and went and told my asm. She talked to the lady who said I was perfectly polite. And in the end my asm called the ladies friend herself! And the friend was like oh ok yeah just give me an iced coffee..........

What the actual hell 😂 I literally still can’t wrap my mind around how some people get o fired up over a cup of bean juice!
ZaftigZephyr4 points1y ago
I know! But what made it so much worse was that we had already spoken but she apparently didn't understand what I was saying??
auberror138 [OP]9 points1y ago
Me and my coworkers literally had a whole conversation today on how you can tell someone something and you know they just didn’t comprehend it by the blank look in their eyes and it almost always leads to a salty customer 😂

Last year when we were setting up for holiday launch, we had all our red cups for the promo in garbage bags in one of the bathrooms that was closed down. Shortly before close, this lady comes in and essentially bolts it to the bathroom. I think both of them were closed due to covid at the time, or maybe just the one but she went into the one with the bags of red cups even though we tried to tell her the restrooms were closed. When she came out and left the store, we checked and saw that there was a huge hole torn into the garbage bag and she had taken at least a good handful of the red cups.

NOT THIS!

Once during the holiday time we had too many counterfeit bills come through, so our DM told us we couldn’t accept anything over a $20 bill. A guy came through, ordered a drink and a pastry, and tried to give me a $50.
“I’m so sorry sir, I cannot accept this bill. Do you have anything smaller, or would you like to pay with a card?”
He then starts to get *very* upset with me, claims that I am rejecting legal tender and that it is illegal (it’s not), and threatened to call the police on me. I just kept saying it wasn’t in my hands, I would get in trouble with the DM if I didn’t but he wasn’t having it. He was definitely looking for a fight, as the gentleman behind him offered to trade his $50 bill for five $10 bills AND HE SAID NO. I handled it accordingly and comped his drink and just made him pay for the pastry and loudly repeated that we cannot take $20 bills for when he comes in next time.
I honestly kind of wish he had called the cops. We gave our local officers free drinks for always watching out for us. Would not have had a problem dealing with this jerk.

I had some guy come in probably around the age of 20-25 and order 2 large Caramel macchiatos. He very clearly didn’t know how to order the drink cause he kind of explained to me what the drink was more or less, which was fine. When I tried to say “oh, we’ll to make it easier for you next time you can just order the caramel macchiato and tell your barista to add sweet cream foam!” He got an attitude with me and was like “well that’s not what I wanted” I actually had to go through and verify his order again to make sure I didn’t miss something. Anyway I finish the transaction and go make his drinks and bring them to the end of our counter. I haven’t even set down the drinks yet and he goes “so are you guys going to give me some straws or no?” 🙄 they were literally right in front of him but I handed them over with a smile and this punk pulls on a child’s toy $20 bill. Clearly half of the size of a normal $20 bill and goes “here’s your tip keep the change”. I literally couldn’t help it, it just came out but I handed it back to him and was like “sir I’m sorry I can’t accept garbage from customers it’s Covid policy, we do have trash cans placed around the corner for customer use” 😂

If it makes you feel better, our bathroom was closed because a repair man was fixing our fridge, and his tools were sprawled in front of the bathroom door. We told one of our regulars (who only comes in only to yell "wAtER LoTs oF iCe") that the bathroom was closed, and that if he needed, the store next door would probably let him use theirs. Obvious solution: he asks for an empty cup, goes to the corner in front of the bathroom (it's kind of blocked off from the main lobby), and pees in it, promptly scarring the repair man. Best thing is, it's his second time doing this and throwing the cup out in our lobby garbage.

I have so many wild stories, I worked at a location in downtown Toronto and it was just the best for stories.
-we had a man we called the mystery pooper because we’d find random poop places in our back parking lot, in the garbage of the bathroom or in the cafe seating area. We never knew when he’d strike, just find the poop. - we had a regular customer, we’ll call her Martha, who was mentally ill but just the fugging best. She lives at a group home a couple doors down and she’d always come in for either water when she was broke or a peach tranquility when she had coin. Which she drank, at full hotness level immediately. I never understood how she did it. She once told me our city mayor was plotting to murder her, then said I was plotting to murder her and I told her, nah, Martha, I love you. I wouldn’t hurt you. She was like, oh, nah it’s definitely Doug Ford. She would constantly ask our gay shift supervisor to marry her because she felt sorry for him. She was like 70 years old and he was like 35 and handsome as shit. She asked me for two dollars once and I said I didn’t have it, she screamed fuck you! Then hugged me the next day. She would come in 3-4 times a day with a whole new outfit on and we called it her fashion show. She was a dope, weird lady and I kinda miss her shenanigans. -had a man full on moon me, shove his ass through our cafe door and scream fuck you starbucks. I yelled back, you tell em. -had a man steal a banana and hold it like a gun, saying, I’m taking this! Which we said, yeah dude, take it no one is stopping you. It’s a banana -during covid we had a long haul trucker come in, our bathrooms were closed and we told him the closest bathroom was a grocery store. He said; I’ll shit in your cafe. I told him to go ahead because it meant we got to sit around and wait for someone to clean it up and I wanted to get paid to do nothing. -had a fella literally yell at one of the sweetest partners ever, to hurry the fuck up. I said no, you get out now. I’m not serving you. Get out. He sent his friend to come in and I told the friend, No, not until he comes in and says I’m sorry to my partner. They left. Every time I saw him, I’d ask if he was ready to say sorry, if he wasn’t, he could leave. I never let him get served again.
