honestly, i’ve been feeling pretty good with most every other position so far in the 3-4 weeks i’ve been here. it’s tiring and sometimes i get confused still, but DT and CS have been okay. the one thing i’m truly struggling with right now is bar (both hot and cold) and i rarely ever get placed on bar to actually practice. i’m honestly stressed because the times i am on bar, i am completely lost, even with the knowledge that i do have. i also feel as though i’m constantly bugging people and they have higher expectations even though i’m lost lol. how do i get better when i’m never on bar??

Not everyone gets good on Bar at the same speed. For me it took over three months to feel like I knew what I was doing. Ask your shifts to place you on Mobile Bar during slow periods with another Barista on main bar who is great at teaching and coaching.
Don’t worry about what the other Baristas say and feel. The reality is they have been exactly where you are once. They just forgot what it’s like. If you have a problem with anyone speak to you manager about it because that’s not okay.

right now our main & mobile bar are pretty much combined, but i probably start asking to be placed on bar with someone who can help like you said. thanks!!

Tell those people straight up. You’re not put on bar constantly so you’re not familiar with it. They’ve been there snd will hopefully understand! I’ve only been here about 2 months so being new I haven’t gotten that good at bar either. But I did have a conversation with my coworkers and they all reassured me, they’ve been put on bar randomly and felt like they were letting the team down, but no one ever is. We’re all learning and need time to grow. Don’t feel bad if you’re still asking questions a few months from now!!

I started about a month ago and the thing that helped me the most was going on the Starbucks app and looking at what each frap and drink had in them! It sounds kind of stupid but it genuinely helped me memorize every drink before my training was even over
