I got a few to try from prime wardrobe but they only got here yesterday so I haven’t had time to decide which I like. What shoes do you wear? I got all sketchers to try. And thank you, that actually means a lot

Ofc!! I got tredsafe or whatever from Walmart lol, they're cheap and they don't hurt my feet as bad !! They also grip p well! Also don't be afraid to ask questions ! I hope your coworkers and management rock ! I'm proud of u

As an 8 year partner, all I can say is best of luck with not getting overwhelmed with Mobile Orders. Sometimes it’s just easier to hang out at DTW and shoot the shit with the customers.

We were short staffed (apparently, I don’t know any different haha) and they closed mobile orders after a bit, thankfully. It was a really hard first day

Thank goodness someone wasn’t afraid to lose a little bit of excessive sales, and shut down the Mobiles. When you have a strong team that also values work balance, over just purely making the highest profit, the longevity of the store is far greater. Profits are necessary, yes - but at what cost? I’m glad you survived your first day.

Congratulations on your new job!!! You are going to love so much of it, and there will be moments you hate, but all in all this is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have!! Depend on your partners and your SM, they want you to succeed and to be an asset to the store! They also want you to adapt and become comfortable in your new position as quick as possible… I always tell my green beans- Ask questions! Even if you feel like it’s a stupid question. We would rather you Always ask, then assume you know… in fact in the beginning, assume you know nothing, it’s just safer. If you are standing still with nothing to do, ask what you can be doing. We have a lot of green beans who have started in the last month at my own store who are not self starters and will just be standing there doing nothing, while the rest of us are going insane and there are coffees to brew or backups to make… totally understandable if you don’t yet know how to do these things, but you can ask, or you could grab a rag and wipe stuff down. Our stores are massive machines and they only work seamlessly if everyone part is moving, so those of us who have been there awhile and are constantly moving from the minute we walk onto the floor until we clock out ( and sometimes even after we clock out) Really appreciate it when we see someone who may not know everything, but is truly trying to contribute in whatever ways they Do know how to.. everyone knows how to clean, do dishes, grab cups and lids (once you know which sizes are white) and changes trash cans! If the trash is overflowing, don’t be afraid to empty it, just remember to double bag it when you replace the bag!

And remember even people who have been there for years get overwhelmed, don’t beat yourself up about that. Just take some moments throughout the day to focus on your breathing and try mindfullness, and if someone ever makes you feel like crap or it just becomes too much, you can ask for a minute off of the floor, but make sure someone knows so your position can be covered, don’t just disappear!

Most of us have cried in the back room next to the freezers and we have no shame telling people that, it is a tough job, but as I stated in the beginning of this long post, I truly believe that “this is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have!!”

One last thing- make sure you have Nothing on your nails or wrists and no long or dangly earrings or necklaces, some of the newer people at my store weren’t aware of these dress code policies…

make sure what you’re wearing is something you can move in. i usually wear baggy jeans, a comfy/nice shirt, my doc martens or converse. ex: tight pants make it hard to squat/bend down to get milk or boxes

Thank you!

You’ll do great:) My first day was just computer training but every store is different. Jeans, non slip shoes, and a shirt that’s in the color pallet of the dress code will be fine! Good luck!
