Unfortunately most baristas don’t work 40 hours every week as Starbucks is mainly a part time job. Might be different at your store if you guys are really busy but mainly SSVs and managers work full time. You could try bringing it up to your manager one last time but looking for coverage at other stores is probably your best bet. Worst case scenario a second job will come into play :( Good luck!

At my store no one but our manager and one shift lead have ever had 40 hrs. It just doesn’t happen. The most hrs I’ve ever had is 36 a week and sometimes I stay longer or pick up shifts. But I would say you can’t work full time as a barista

At my store the only one who works 40 hours. One of the green beans at my store was making this same complaint to me and another partner. He was telling her pretty much the only way to get guaranteed more hours is becoming a shift (32-26 hours normally). I normally work 24-30 hours at the most but sometimes i only work 20 :/ You can definitely pick up other shifts at other stores tho. Ive done it a bunch of times when i needed more hours. Wishing you all the best 💕💕

Many of my partners have second jobs and adjust their Starbucks availability accordingly

I would find a day when your SM is there and talk to her in person, just asking if there’s anything you can do to get scheduled more hours or if she knows of any shifts that need covered. We have a handful of full time baristas that typically get scheduled 35-38 hours (usually not exactly 40 so they don’t hit OT if they stay late a day or two). There’s no rule that baristas are part time, that’s honestly usually what works best for scheduling purposes. If they hired you as full time, that should be the expectation. Maybe if you aren’t able to get full time at this store you can see if there’s another store you can transfer to that would give you full time? It’s honestly bonkers to me because my district is in such a staffing crisis that any of us would love to have a reliable full time partner right now.

My store is a training store so almost ever new hire comes through my store to get trained. Even then, the trainers only get about 30 hours a week, shifts 32 ish, and baristas get 25ish on average.
