it really bothers me how everyone thinks their orders should be prioritized. (self.starbucksbaristas)

it's just not reasonable. i love being on bar but the customers are insane. if i make the mobile drinks i get yelled at for "making drinks for people who arent even here when you have standing. paying customers waiting" and if i make the cafe drinks first, the mobile order people yell at me because their drink wasn't ready when the app said it would be.

i know these people are just assholes and i should laugh it off but i'm human and getting yelled at all day no matter what i do is really starting to get to me.

the way people look at me and treat me like i’m a fucking robot drives me insane. i’m a PERSON. i have feelings. don’t talk to me like that.

the way they cross their arms and glare and tap their foot when they're getting impatient. the way they put you down if you do have some kind of emotional response to them berating you over something you can't control...

OH MY GOD I HATE THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY STORE OR SOMETHING 😭😭 People will give me very dirty looks and stand with their arms crossed and it used to stress me tf out when I was on bar, but now I just don't give a fuck. It makes me wanna go slower honestly.

One time, as a guy was walking away after I gave him his drink, he said something like "You know you made me wait here for like 5 minutes? That's not right." And his tone was PISSED. Over a measley 5 minutes. Jesus christ.

Stupid fuck needs to chill. Yeah my store is very high volume and the lobby ends up full with people waiting on mobiles and people who placed cafe orders. A lot of them with their eyes intensely fixated on the poor baristas drowning on bar, with their arms folded and all. It gets exhausting, but they gotta realize that the time they’re ordering at is busy asf and clearly we have more orders than just theirs. It’s ridiculous

too bad i don’t give a rats ass about that 5 minutes. i’ll make it 10 just for you :)

Omg yes. I quit over that as well. I am staying unemployed and broke for the longest time because of those bitches.
[deleted] 2 points 1y ago
I am considering reporting them though hate to do it.

They should definitely add more minutes to expected time the mobile order will be ready if there are other orders in que or based on current pace of new orders at DT and POS

But you work in a service industry. Surely you are really a person /s
spensyr 28 points 1y ago
Nope, they can wait. I’ll just tell them there is a queue system, you are in line, you will wait your turn while I churn out drinks in order. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like it. There’s an influx of orders, wait your turn like everyone else has to. And if they badger me about it, oh no their drink just got moved further down the queue. Yes, I’m petty.

I tried to always make drinks in order since that's the only fair way to do things. It drove me crazy when someone would complain and then my SM would come dig their stickers out of the queue and make their drinks. Part of the reason I quit.

forreal cuz i suddenly got slammed with mobile orders once and started working on them before i noticed a crowd started to form in the cafe and this lady had a fit that i kept on working on mobile orders instead of her drink, and then had the nerve to say \*I\* had an attitude when i was telling her i was making the drinks in the order they printed.

The entitled customers are what's going to make me leave this job. I used to love it here! But the way some customers act is ridiculous
Pickle-Chunk 1 points 1y ago
That’s going to happen anywhere.

I hate that Starbucks ever marketed mobile order and pay as “skip the line order ahead” because now everyone thinks that is what it does. Allows them to skip everyone who has ordered before them instead of just joining the queue without interacting with a barista.

If they placed their order before the person inside of the café, then their order should and be made before the café customer’s order is. The mobile order customer is doing things the intended way, and should be rewarded by the barista making their beverage in the appropriate order.
Markedsoultheif 5 points 1y ago
Yes that’s exactly what I was saying. But most people seem to think that placing a mobile order skips them ahead of the line of both cafe and mobile orders making them first even if other people are waiting. If someone placed a mobile order ten minutes ago theirs should be made before the person who placed it three seconds ago. But the person who placed it three seconds ago thinks that they “skipped” the line and should be priority.

Edit: this might just be an experience specific to my store. But at least I’ve noticed that customer seem to think that if they mobile, they skip everyone else who was already waiting. I probably wasn’t super clear. The drinks should be made in order of when they were placed. No one should be skipped over in favor of anyone else.

A guy came in today and yelled at us for a minute because he was the last of 6 people in line, and seeing everyone else get theirs before him made angry. He’s banned now 🥰
madamesoybean 3 points 1y ago
I wish the drink making was behind a wall. Screw open concepts.

i know. this lady was standing up next to the counter and my coworker asked her what’s wrong and she was like “just waiting for my drinks” and he was like “they’ll be out shortly” and she was like “i’ve been waiting 10 min” and i was like sorry we’re really busy” and she rolled her eyes at me. like sorry i have a shit ton of mobiles and i need more than 30 seconds to make a frappe
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
The worst because they don't know the job.
echowolf9 1 points 1y ago
I mobile order a lot and honestly I don’t mind if it’s not ready because they’re slammed, but I absolutely hate when I can see that they’ve pulled my sticker and put it off to the side (I usually get there 10 minutes after I order off peak so if they skipped it for one it’s understandable but they clearly forgot about it)
