Cheese danish lady (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by acexcake
I had a women come through the drive through the other day and order two cheese danishes, warmed, and asked if we could drizzle them with caramel….I kid you not, everyone on the floor turned and looked at me in pure shook. I didn’t even ask my manager what to say (i’ve only worked there about 2 weeks) I just told her no, because we can’t even warm up the lemon loaf….I highly doubt we’re allowed to drizzle pastries with caramel and put them in the bag and give it to customers. One of my shifts just grabbed a short cup and filled it with drizzle, I don’t think we even rang her up for it, but she said we were gonna make sure she got her caramel. Hands down the oddest encounter I’ve had yet.

Oh honey, you have so much time for things to get weirder! :)
LadyBearJenna 180 points 1y ago
Years ago, at least 2009, we had someone come through our DT and ask for a reduced fat cinnamon swirl coffee cake warmed with whipped cream and caramel on top. We did it (mostly cause it was slow and nighttime). They got to the window and were high as F.
midgethepuff 53 points 1y ago
That tracks
pizzapluspineapple 128 points 1y ago
Dude try it. As an ex partner, cheese Danish drizzled with caramel and sprinkled with the cinnamon dulce topping and then warmed is. The. Shiiiiiiit.
elsha007 29 points 1y ago
My favorite was the morning bun, warmed and then caramel drizzle and dulce topping. 😋
MonstrousGiggling 24 points 1y ago
Fuck I miss morning buns. Apparently I'm the only person at my store who enjoyed them.
elsha007 13 points 1y ago
It was the closest thing to a cinnamon roll, which is my favorite breakfast sugar bomb.
olivinemultichrome 8 points 1y ago
I despised the burns from the melted sugar almost as much as I despised those lava bombs disguised as apple fritters
amalia13lightning 5 points 1y ago
how dare u disrespect my boi apple frit
potatopoisoning 6 points 1y ago
Used to mix white mocha and vanilla bean powder and drizzle it over the top, then toast it. Soooo goood. I miss the morning buns!
canidieyet_ 12 points 1y ago
i wanna try SO BAD but we have customers who throw a fit if they see partners do something like put caramel on a danish (for themselves), but refuse to do it for customers. (because how dare we improve our snacks we are so tired of eating)
pizzapluspineapple 1 points 1y ago
Tell them to stuff it lol. Or make something up about corporate asking you to do new food trials and it's an experiment for work.
Training_Material_42 2 points 1y ago
I do this with plain madeleines 😭
pizzapluspineapple 1 points 1y ago
Those things are so good
lilkiosk 1 points 1y ago
One of my coworkers does this all the time!!
Dependent_End_5618 1 points 1y ago
i do this every time we get cheese danishes in. it’s so good. my shift showed me it. also the almond croissants with the dark caramel sauce.
Darcie_Autham 1 points 1y ago
My favorite is taking the danishes home, warming them and topping them with caramelized peaches! 🤤😋
kqs13 1 points 1y ago
Add blueberries to it and it's even better!
Millerboycls09 50 points 1y ago
In a cup on the side is the right way to handle that request, but I wish it wasn't something people thought to ask for.
[deleted] 17 points 1y ago
Make sure they pay for it too. Better yet tell them to go to costco and buy a gallon of it.
nightshiftequalsdead 21 points 1y ago
Had someone order an espresso shot on top of a coffee cake and a spoon
MonstrousGiggling 17 points 1y ago
That actually sounds good asf. Add some whip and im all about that.
Kindly-Wear-6290 1 points 1y ago
Blonde shot on a warm chocolate chip cookie. Yaaaas!
YellowSphinx 21 points 1y ago
Yes.. my coworkers and I totally never put something covered in caramel in the oven.. it was a brownie, covered in salt and caramel. We topped it with whip and we regret nothing 😋
rknick1980 21 points 1y ago
Way back in the day, like 2002, before the days of TikTok, customers came in and did the same. Just a slightly different version. I remember a lady asking me for a strawberry cheesecake breve latte. She said if I didn’t have that it was fine because I can just make her a snickers bar OR a Marylin Monroe breve latte. Sure didn’t do any of that. You guys probably have strawberry syrup now but we didn’t even have anything like that back then.
midgethepuff 12 points 1y ago
The only fruity syrup we have (aside from the new seasonal one) is raspberry - but that’s been temporarily discontinued until idk when
Ghost_girl_xx 5 points 1y ago
I gotta know what is a marylin Monroe breve latte?
rknick1980 4 points 1y ago
I remember her describing it as like a blondie bar flavored beverage lol
spacebrain420 17 points 1y ago
You should try it with the apple drizzle. Chefs kiss.
ShannyES 2 points 1y ago
I know what my ten snack will be tomorrow.
[deleted] 13 points 1y ago
It’s a tiktok thing
acexcake [OP] 48 points 1y ago
tiktok is the bane of my existence. i’ve already had three people come in and try to order a cheesecake frap they saw on tiktok, and get mad at me because i need them to tell me what’s in the drink to ring it up and make it and they think i just know this information like it’s common knowledge
anx1etyprime 10 points 1y ago
ok but cinnamon dolce powder on cheese danishes slaps tho
u could put the drizzle on after? but it would get messed up in the bag either way
rednailsftw 7 points 1y ago
Ok but that actually sounds amazing…
thelizardmorgue 6 points 1y ago
One of my coworkers showed me the magic of caramel drizzle and dolce sprinkles on top of a warmed danish and it was life changing. Not something I'd have the audacity to order in drive thru and we didn't heat up the caramel with the danish because obvious safety hazard. But omg you gotta try it
kqs13 2 points 1y ago
Add blueberries too
sholbyy 5 points 1y ago
When I was a partner I used to make a sausage egg and cheddar but before putting it in the oven I’d drizzle juuuust a little caramel on the sausage patty and spread into a thin layer with a spoon. Made it taste like a McGriddle.
3aTroop 4 points 1y ago
Cheese danish with the apple drizzle slaps!!
azemilyann26 4 points 1y ago
Why can't you warm up your pastries and cakes?
acexcake [OP] 6 points 1y ago
We do, things like croissants, sandwiches and most loafs are standard warmed unless the customer ask for it not warmed. Some things like muffins and cookies are recommended warm and we ask customers if they’d like them warm or not. But we can’t warm lemon loaf because of the icing on it, it can spread all over the oven, and also, lemon loaf falls apart when you warm it. So If we can’t warm that, I’m sure it’s against guidelines if we put literal drizzle in the oven. But if you want a normal cheese danish, we’d be more then happy to warm it for you, drizzle free.
StarLight617 2 points 1y ago
I know of a store that had a fire because of a lemon loaf in the oven. The mall they were in weren't too happy about that one.
celestialflow 3 points 1y ago
one late night when i was stuck doing a clean play, we finished pretty early so i whipped myself up a cheese danish (double toasted of course), whipped cream, extra caramel drizzle and a pack of sea salt. don’t know what got into me but it was the bomb dot com
darrinH92 3 points 1y ago
A few days ago I had a guy come through and order a double smoked bacon cooked twice. All is good and when we go to give it to him he says "I just want the bacon" not a big deal but i just thought that was a bit odd/funny
Radiant_Session6601 2 points 1y ago
I had a man come through the drive through order a panini and black coffee and he kept asking for a packet of butter and I was like oh for the panini? And he was like no he wanted us to put the butter in his coffee…definitely strangest one for me
JugglesTheKlown 1 points 1y ago
Pretty sure that's a Keto thing. Bullet Coffee?
hidethenight17 2 points 1y ago
Dolce powder on cheese danishes is god tier.
johnmarkowens 2 points 1y ago
Best advice I ever got at the Green Devil was to just give them the caramel but make sure and use that opportunity to connect in the most passive aggressive way. Like I’ll give you all the caramel if I can openly talk shit to you. Hoodbucks forever
silversungoddess 2 points 1y ago
Someone asked me to put strawberry purée on one
FragrantWin9 2 points 1y ago
The partners at my store would always do this! We had a lot of people who eat in the cafe too, being close to a college, and one of my coworkers would always suggest it to people who were eating cheese danishes at the bar. They might have just learned it from us! Wouldn’t really work in a bag though.

Edit for autocorrect mistake
llm0727 1 points 1y ago
Well now I definitely need a cheese Danish with caramel drizzle. Can’t believe I’ve never thought of it!!

just tried this on my lunch it slaps
uwumoment 1 points 1y ago
cheese danish, caramel drizzle and cinnamon dolce topping 😩
Arevrec 1 points 1y ago
If you put Carmel drizzle and dolce topping on a cheese danish it taste like French toast. It’s a secret barista treat recipe I show all my green beans but I would never make it for a customer lol
Improvmomolyfe 1 points 1y ago
Cheese danish with caramel is amazing and I’d probably do it if someone was eating it in the cafe since that’s the only way to really enjoy that
RedRowBlueBoat 1 points 1y ago
Cheese danish with the new apple drizzle is THE BEST.
TheDoubleDan 1 points 1y ago
I'm so confused. Why did you bring up lemon loaf in a story about danishes out of nowhere?
acexcake [OP] 1 points 1y ago
It’s just an example as to why we probably can’t put drizzle in the oven. We can’t warm lemon loaf because of the icing, so i’m pretty sure we’re not allowed to warm up caramel either. It just sounds like a fire hazard.
TheDoubleDan 1 points 1y ago
.......you put the drizzle on after....
acexcake [OP] 1 points 1y ago
she asked for the drizzle on the danish, then warmed. that’s why we couldn’t do it for her. also, my manager said that we probably can’t put drizzle on pastries then put it in the bag. so either way, my store said we couldn’t do it.
Roseyy-Girl 1 points 1y ago
The other day, someone came through dt and asked for a cinnamon coffee cake pop. I politely told her we don't have it. She then proceeded to call me a liar and told me if I just didn't wanna give it to her just say it. She said that it said we have those on our board. I offered a normal slice of cin coff cake to her and she only got more mad. She told me that I had to go outside and fix my menu. My only response wa as "okay, well. I don't know what to tell you ma'am. Is there anything else I can give you?"
Intelligent_Manner62 1 points 1y ago
Omg ngl, that sounds delicious! I would have ordered them as is and asked to pay for caramel shots on the side and warmed them up myself.
Lisaloveshouses 1 points 1y ago
That’s a sweet .60 up charge right there. I would offer on the side with up charge.
DaybreakNightfall 1 points 1y ago
That sounds good af
LunarScorpio_ 1 points 1y ago
it’s not even that bad.
philosopher_cat_lady 1 points 1y ago
I would have done it
drinkliquidclocks -1 points 1y ago
That's really not weird lol at my licensed store we put it on food l the time for people
