i recently transferred to a new store for school and i just can’t handle it. it makes me so stressed out to see my schedule full. mondays are classes 7 am to 8 pm. tuesday a 5 am shift. wednesday classes, 7 am to 8 pm. thursday. 11 am shift. friday classes 7 am to 2 pm. followed by a shift until close. and then shifts all. fucking. weekend.
i cant do it. i want to quit. i know i just transferred but this is too much. i literally just get to go home to sleep and wake up and slave away. im so tired.

I would suggest a talk with your manager about your availability. If they don’t listen tell them that you’re going to have to find something else because you’re not going to put the job above your schooling.

prioritize your mental health and education! I am in a similar situation, I recently requested a transfer but i’m considering calling the SM and telling her I can’t do it because I know it will be too overwhelming to juggle school and work; i’m sure if you let your manager know the toll this is taking on you they will either adjust your hours or understand that you need to prioritize your happiness and schooling over a part time job.

Step 1) talk to your manager about fewer shifts.
Step 2) job hunt around campus. Guarantee campus jobs will pay more than Starbucks and campus employers are generally super accommodating about student schedules since every employee is a student

campus jobs are actually shit in a lot of cases. the licensed starbucks at my school pays 9.25 (i get paid 10.50 at a corp starbucks here, and then obv $12 soon!) and the schoolbux has absolutely zero benefits. not even free coffee or food??? many on campus jobs arent much better (even the non-food ones) but i was using the school bucks as a 1:1 comparison

Man I’m sorry if you had that experience :/ my university pays much higher than min wage while Sbux paid only a couple dollars more than min wage

Unfortunately most campus jobs pay minimum wage in my area. Starbucks is going up to 4$ + tips an hour above our state’s minimum wage, so it pays way better.

you should talk to your manager about cutting your shifts/hrs down. bc I know when I was in college, my hiring manager at the time, took my availability && ran with it. ex: on like a Tuesday my last class ended it 2. she'd schedule me at 2:15 && school was 15 minutes away from my store 🙃 set hrs that's reasonable for you to balance work, school && life. best of luck
