Some customers ask us to stir. Most of the time if it’s something like a white mocha/mocha/pumpkin or has sugar packets in it I’ll swirl the hot liquid in it first to help melt it down. Otherwise it’ll stick to the bottom.

We get some complaints too at my store. Ma'am, you ordered a trenta iced coffee with heavy cream. If you have a full-size whisk in your car, feel free to "stir" that shit. I don't have anything on the bar suitable for that purpose so in most cases I'll just do my best to swirl it together.

Although recently I've taken to adding in the milk or cream before the iced coffee, which helps create a more consistent color. But then I'm sure someone will complain there's too much cream and not enough coffee. 🙃

You're not making the iced coffee correctly.
It's supposed to be syrup, iced coffee to the 2nd line, milk to the 3rd line, ice to the top.
Milk mixes itself in. It will not mix in if ice is in the way.
There is a correct ratio to making a well balanced iced coffee. It is not made by guessing on color....

I did not know that. I don’t think anyone at my store ever do that. You learn something new everyday

Don't worry you're not alone. A painstaking amount of baristas don't make it right :(

:( well at least I know now lmao

I didn't either... If that's standard I was definitely not trained correctly 🙃 not entirely surprising, but still. Now I know!

You’re right, but I still do heavy cream first specifically because it will never mix in to a cold brew/iced coffee if you don’t. I know this for a fact because I made one standard today and it didn’t mix at all and I felt bad. But yes, all other milks/creams this works great.

Thank you for the info! I'll definitely be looking at the recipe card tomorrow, lol. Having said that, I'm pretty sure most people judge their coffee on color, hot or iced. Someone's "splash" of cream is someone else's milk-with-a-little-coffee.

It’s supposed to be mixed already. It goes syrup>coffee>milk>ice. You really don’t have to stir after that and if you do, you should stir it cuz that’s how the recipe is. Now would I be one to make a fuss over something small like that? No but it is technically the recipe

i just swirl it or if it’s an iced coffee i pour milk before the ice because you know how people are.

If someone orders something like a shaken espresso stirred, I forget most of the time and just grab the drink from the top and swirl in a circle. Poof! Stirred!

I usually just give it a swirl after the lid is on if they ask for it stirred, but if it’s iced coffee then I’ll make sure to do the coffee to the second line and milk to the third so that it’s all mixed up, and if there’s a sauce at the bottom I’ll swirl it with some coffee first then continue w the rest.

Same

put it in a shaker. there’s a button under “more custom directions” for stirred beverages.

I don’t stir unless it’s requested, but I swirl every drink I make. It’s a weird habit, but I’ve picked up a latte before only to have the syrup all stuck at the bottom and nothing to stir it with.

With iced coffee I like to do syrup, milk, swirl, half the coffee, swirl, rest of coffee.

Are my drive times great? Nope. Are my drinks high quality? Yup. And I’m not the kind of barista that can produce both so 🤷‍♀️

It's practically protocol at my store to swirl the espresso when there's syrups or sauces in it, since we already do it I get confused when someone asks for it stirred. Like dude, you're a regular, you should know we already regularly stir it.

It’s definitely polite to stir anything. Whether or not it’s necessary is up to your boss I guess and it’s a Krobucks so I doubt they care too much.
