Requesting holidays off? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’m a newish partner who started in early July and was wondering what the policy is about requesting holidays off?? I can see that I’ll have to work on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and was wondering if I can try to request either or both of them off or is that not allowed? Thanks in advance

In my experience, my manager would ask who wants to work Christmas Eve/Day and New Year’s Eve/Day. I worked Christmas Eve and did not work Christmas Day same for NYE. I also know some of my partners requested those days off and did not face any consequences. If we didn’t have enough people the store closed a few hours early. Maybe talk to your SM about it? And then, if they say that is fine, request it off at least a month ahead of time.

At least in our District no one is required to work Christmas Day. It’s volunteer only and most stores are closed. I assumed it was like that for all corporate stores.
I like working Holidays since we get paid time and a half and we close the store early for the major holidays.

I would ask. Last year we had sign up sheets for the holidays (thanksgiving, christmas, christmas eve, nye, nyd, etc) and nobody signed up for christmas day so we closed.
