Tired of Starbucks customers (self.starbucksbaristas)

Don't you just love it when you ask customers if they want anything in their Lattes, Americanos, and Cappuccino, and they always say no thank you just plain.
Then when you hand them their drink they ask for sugar or syrup. Like what???

I feel this on a spiritual level. We’ve been in this pandemic for what?? Almost two years?? I lost track. Anyways, we haven’t had cream or sugar out since covid started and it still baffles me when people expect it to be there.
I hate when it’s busy and someone orders a black coffee then comes to me during peak for cream. Like .. I asked you at the register if you wanted cream and sugar and you said no? Ugh it’s a small thing and it doesn’t matter BUT IT GETS ME EVERY TIME

Me too lol. I can't help but just laugh when they expect it to be there. Just like how they expect us to be over the pandemic like they are.

I just don’t like when I’m solo bar with tons of cafe, drive, and mobile drinks to make then they step up to ask me for 3 ice waters “when I have a second”.. how about just order the water at POS? If I actually waited until I had a second they’d be waiting a long time but instead I have to stop and hold up the other people waiting so I get mean mugged longer. I wish my manager would give us permission to tell the guest they need to order the water (next time, even) at the counter for inventory. There’s a cup shortage anyway, we are constantly running out so these random cups of water mess up my sequencing and contribute to an ongoing problem. Obviously I just say sure of course and give them the waters with a positive attitude. All this talk about “coaching the customers” to improve drive times but nothing to actually support the partner planted at bar.

When I am at POS and someone gets a hot coffee I try to coach them and say something like, “Would you like any cream or sugar with your coffee? I can get it for you since our condiment bar is empty” or idk something like that so they’re like “Eureka, they still don’t have a condiment bar fully stocked let me actually have this girl get me my little condiments” lol like pls I’m asking for a reason

^ this. Partners should ask this question because Starbucks no longer has a condiment bar. People aren’t trying to be annoying it is just habit to add it yourself… and to be honest I don’t understand why sugars can’t be put out again if everything is individually packaged anyway?
capsule_of_anxiety1 5 points 1y ago
Because all the sugars - although are individual packets - are gonna be piled together in some sort of little container. Which means many people throughout the day will be sticking their nasty little hands in the pile of sugar packets and who knows what their hands have touched. Then everyone who goes to grab sugar packets has touched what the people before them have touched, and so on.

Sure, but that has always been the risk…You can say the same about door knobs lol
capsule_of_anxiety1 2 points 1y ago
Yeahhhh but it’s a risk Starbucks is no longer willing to take I guess

I mean there are condiment bars. I used to work with someone who had that same thought as you and my manager at the time said that people want to put how much sugar want themselves. Some stores apparently didn't have condiment bars and that prompted customers to ask us for sugar or some sort of sweetener.

Starbucks hasn’t had cream and sugar on condiment bars for over a year and a half though
Fatkidsid09 [OP] 27 points 1y ago
Yeah but we don't have it anymore cuz target doesn't want people touching everything.

Condiment bars should not be in use at the moment.
