It's Been One Week (self.starbucksbaristas)

Within one week, my store launched the fall menu, a hurricane passed through our state so our store closed temporarily as a precaution, and a barista caught COVID. How are things going at your store?

a hurricane passed through our area and we stayed open eventhough the stores surrounding us (3 less than 5 minutes away) closed so we absorbed alot of their traffic and also all of a sudden, eventhough we're doing a ton more sales than usual, it became very important for us to not break scheduled labor (no staying late on the clock) so the store is an absolute mess. Also our deliveries got flooded out and we havnt had any food since yesterday

Starbucks is stupid. Let baristas stay late so they can clean the store or help their team. Let them earn a larger paycheck. Starbucks acts like cleanliness isn't important in a pandemic.

When it came to the hurricane, our manager and a shift supervisor got to the store 45 minutes before opening late at 9:00 a.m. I and another barista clocked in thirty minutes before opening, like usual. We were supposed to have a team of six, since there is SO MUCH WORK to do when you open your store after a temporary close (in case you're not familiar, you've got to run several cleaning cycles on the espresso machines, you've got to run brewing cycles of just hot water on the coffee brewer, make mocha, make chai syrup, make whipped cream, do all of the regular opening tasks, etc., etc.). We had a team of four since two people called out. Needless to say, we hadn't completed all those tasks by 9:00 a.m.

Closed early on Saturday due to SSV call off and our manager already covering another store who’s SSV called off, record-breaking sales on Sunday due to a neighboring store being closed, broken window on Tuesday (possibly vandalism, possibly just the weather?), power went out for 5 hours on Wednesday due to a blown transformer, 4-partner peak on Thursday with DT Register down (due to the power outage), and all of that with 2 people isolating so we were understaffed every day.

I really wish people would stay the fuck home like public health officials recommend. Or that Starbucks had a scant menu so no one would be enticed to come.

My kiosk hasn't had a manager in weeks and almost the entire staff are minors

My store currently has 3 partners out with covid and 1 just coming back from jt. With tons of others actually sick with other illness or just calling out because we’re short staffed and they don’t want to deal with it.

I’m so, so tired- and I’m only a SSV. I can’t imagine how exhausting it is for my SM.

LOL. Starbucks does NOT know how to operate its business. It's mind-boggling that Starbucks is ok with its partners catching COVID all the time. We're operating normally and are not supposed to enforce our state's mask mandate if a customer gets combative about it. Starbucks has no vaccine mandate. They don't even want us asking our coworkers if they've been vaccinated. I'm so tired and I'm a barista! As for the fake call-outs, baristas need to get fired over that shit. The barista who has COVID used to fake call out \*all the fucking time\*. Sometimes he just wouldn't show up and wouldn't call. During holiday. He still has his job. And this is the second time he has COVID. He enjoyed telling us that he's immune to COVID.
