Hello! So I’m in the middle of transferring meaning that I’m not currently working but should be starting back on the 20th of September. But due to the offer of another job closer to my current residence I would like to quit. However I’m not sure if I should text my manager and arrange a in person talk, since I’ve only spoken to them once before, or text them and tell them that I’m quitting. And if so what should I say? Thank you for your time.

Write a letter of resignation. It’s sounds long and formal, but it’s only formal as in formality. You don’t need to explain future plans or give ANY reasoning. “Hi, I have decided to no longer work for Starbucks. Thank you for the experience.” You can add a date of when you’ll last be working, typically it’s two weeks from the time you hand in the resignation. That’s well before the 20th, so they shouldn’t be in a lurch in the slightest.
Pretty sure Starbucks doesn’t do references when called, so how you leave doesn’t matter outside of your conscience.
Do look at your state laws surrounding quitting a job. Although there’s typically nothing for non-exempt employees/hourly wage employees.
Edit: my dumbass forget the most important part. Go hand it in, in person.

text them and arrange an in person meeting if you’re able, i feel like that’s a lot more professional and gives you a chance to talk about your future plans and kind of get some closure with the company!

you don’t need a reason for quitting so i would suggest (as everyone i know who quit) writing a brief but formal letter letting them know you are choosing to leave (don’t say why) thank them for the opportunity and hand it in person. that’s all you need and how it should be done.
