Dude, night shift at Starbucks is just as bad as the morning shift, but it different ways. When you close you have 2 or MAYBE 3 people working if you’re lucky. One of them will have to be off the floor most of the evening counting literally everything in the store (milks, food, etc) while the other person makes as many backups as possible while also taking up front orders, drive thru orders, making everything (including warming food) and handing it off.

Compare this to morning, when there are seven or eight people on the floor and each person stays in one specific spot doing one task (cold bar, for example, makes refreshers, iced teas, cold brews, and frappuchinos; there’s a specific person assigned to just hand drinks out the window and a DIFFERENT person who takes the orders for the drive-thru). only a couple people (if any) are moving around and gathering supplies, doing dishes, other “support” tasks.

Yes, morning rush sucks, because there’s a lot of pressure to do everything perfect at inhuman speeds. But closing shift also sucks, because there’s a lot of pressure (including from other baristas who don’t close) to leave the store spotless for the morning, which is ALSO essentially impossible in the time you’re allowed and with the amount of people who have there.

What? No, some of us have jobs that start after 7pm? Like you know, hospitals, fire departments, EMS, security...? It's appreciated when a place is still open when your shift starts. My mornings are your evenings. Not everybody works during the day.

Exactly that. The brown box is a large container of coffee for people to take to events- easier and cheaper than everyone in a group ordering separate drinks or coffees. It's 96oz (so like 12 short cups.) They're like $18 where I live (~ £13 or €15)
