How do you measure splash of cream/milk etc. vs extra splash? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by strawberryjamsesh
I’ve literally just been guessing this entire time, but is there a system? Like, I know with light ice we just go one scoop size down, but is there a “correct” way to measure “splash”? For example, if a grande iced coffee asked for a splash of cream, would I just guess? Or is there a way to measure on the cup?

for iced coffee it’s usually the syrups or sugar first, then iced coffee to the second line, then the cream or milk to the third line, then ice. if it’s light spl i do more iced coffee less milk if that makes any sense. i’m sorry if this was just a bunch of word vomit lol but i’m not good at explaining things through text hehe

Yeah for iced drinks follow the black lines on the cup. For hot drinks I kind of just eyeball it and go by what feels like the right amount to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

My time has come. I looked up a recipe card and it actually defined what a splash was. Not the info i was looking for, but my brain memorized it. Now i can pass this information to you.

Forewarning; this doesnt help unless youre good at eyeballing measurements. There's not a "standard" way to splash a drink, afaik.

Anyway, 59 mL(2 fl oz) for a tall/grande and 89mL(3 fl oz) for a venti. Not sure if any recipe card has trenta listed but i would guess about 4 fl oz. For reference, a shot of espresso is 1 fl oz, unless your machine is whack.

The whole splash system is just dairy they didnt pay for. And if they didnt pay for it, dont give them more than 4 fl oz. Unless your making the moment right, or your hand slipped, or they asked for extra.

Also for reference, if it helps, 2 fl oz would fill 1/4 of a short cup
