i’m still pretty green and this is prob a dumb question but i had a customer come in the other day and ask for a drip coffee and i had no idea what that meant. is it just a hot coffee? a pour over? help :(

This made me so mad and confused when I first started. I had no clue what they were talking about either. Unfortunately, I feel like this “coffee shop” language and slang does not translate well for Starbucks oddly enough. There’s been a few things customers have said I didn’t understand, but it was coffee shop terminology.

i agree! i didn’t know other terms like “red eye” or “dirty chai” until people ordered them. like it’s not covered in the training and starbucks is glorified fast food so traditional coffee shop terms aren’t touched on

Dirty chai was understood for me, but there were too many black eyes, green eyes, red eyes. I couldn’t keep up, and most customers would get mad when I had to have them remind me how many shots go in each one. It’s confusing. 🥴
