Did my manager break Covid policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mattefics
I let my manager know I was exposed to Covid-19 and symptomatic as soon as I found out, which was last Sunday morning. I got tested as soon as I could, but it was a lab test so I wouldn’t get the results back until Wednesday morning at the earliest. I had a shift Tuesday and knew I would not be able to work because of my exposure and symptoms, so I also let him know that as soon as possible. Tuesday morning he calls me and says all of my symptoms are “secondary” so I need to come into work. I am vaccinated so I’m not sure if that makes a difference, but I cannot imagine that Starbucks’ Covid policies say that it is okay for an exposed and symptomatic partner to come into work? I just wanted to check here and see if that’s the actual policy or if my manager was breaking policy? Thanks!

I feel like no one really knows what the policies even are anymore and most managers will try to get you to work no matter what right now because of all the other issues. Just use the Covid coach because right now that says to go home if you are even displaying one secondary symptom.

I’m pretty sure, in your situation, you need 72 hours after symptoms have passed.

i still had symptoms as of my shift on wednesday, so my manager def broke protocol right?

Yes, they absolutely broke protocol.

There is the COVID coach that is available on the iPads. Right now it says if you have one primary symptom and/or 2 secondary symptoms you have to isolate

lol next time this happens to me i’m going to make sure to mention to customers that i’m exposed and symptomatic. if my manager is fine with me coming in he should be fine with me telling customers!

Your Sm is wrong. If you have been exposed and are experiencing symptoms, you are required to isolate the full 10 days regardless of test result, unless your doctor writes you a note returning you to work early.
