How do y’all make the mocha cookie crumble frap? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by inkburd
I always did cookie crumbles AND mocha at the bottom until one of my shifts caught me and told me that it’s ONLY cookie crumbles at the bottom. I recently transferred to another store, and was telling a green bean how to make the MCC, when my SM pulled me aside and told me that it was mocha drizzle at the bottom. The Starbucks app says cookie crumble at the bottom.

i love how our drinks are so complex that nobody knows the true recipe :/
cdog141 29 points 1y ago
Cretinous isn't it.
LilKaySigs 23 points 1y ago
Ridiculous if you will
audrey_mae_ 12 points 1y ago
precisely
canigetaventiuh 212 points 1y ago
Standard is cookie at the bottom only.
[deleted] 93 points 1y ago
oh no… i’ve been doing mocha at the bottom only 😭😭
ItzBoogieMan 29 points 1y ago
Boy what the hell boy
bryceofswadia 13 points 1y ago

I fucking knew it. Someone said it was mocha on the bottom and cookie on top
cac0324 2 points 1y ago
oh thank god our mocha is nowhere near the blenders so it was a hike every time. will not be doing that anymore

Recipe cards are on the iPads. Standard is cookies on the bottom only. Drizzle and cookie on the TOP. Show your SM the recipe card if you get the chance
mmpotpie78 3 points 1y ago
Ahh I’ve been doing it wrong!!!
[deleted] 2 points 1y ago
Oof I made them wrong the entire time I was back at Starbucks. OOPS

kookubo 19 points 1y ago
Whip > crumble > frapp > whip > crumble > mocha (the card says this too!) I used to make the mistake of putting mocha on the bottom too haha
MatchingColors 17 points 1y ago
Hmmm I’m interested in these responses

The most recent recipe cards we got says whip/mocha on bottom + whip/mocha/crumbles on top which is consistent with what I’ve been taught, and it makes most sense to me.

But now I’m gonna look into it
ItzBoogieMan 15 points 1y ago
Who ever is in charge of making new drinks or altering old recipes has shit for brains at corporate
MatchingColors 4 points 1y ago
AGREED
goldqueen287 9 points 1y ago
Plus the pictures always showed whip and drizzle at the bottom and whip drizzle and crumbles at the top. That’s how it made sense to me

Wait wait wait. The way I make it is just like the caramel ribbon but a mocha.

Whip + drizzle on the bottom- whip drizzle & topping on top.

Is that correct? I know thats the process for the Caramel I just assumed they’re the same.
ThatOtherGuyTPM 32 points 1y ago
Also, the caramel ribbon is supposed to have dark caramel at the bottom, not caramel drizzle. It gets drizzle and crunch only at the top.
buubuubitch 11 points 1y ago
No sorry :( whip and crumbles on the bottom, mocha drizzle only on top with more crumbles
[deleted] -5 points 1y ago

shizgettingworse 5 points 1y ago
Incorrect. "8 shakes" of crumbles go on the bottom. Then 3 shakes and m drizzle on top. Check your recipe card.
MrRisstopher 10 points 1y ago
Good to known I always thought It was 7 shakes.
kIose -3 points 1y ago
You might be right if so they changed the recipe.
briannuzzi 1 points 1y ago
the way I remembered how to make the cookie crumble was by knowing it’s the OPPOSITE of the caramel ribbon crunch at the bottom, actually. the ribbon crunch gets the “drizzle”/dark caramel sauce at the bottom but crunchy bits only on top, and the cookie crumble gets the cookie topping on top and bottom, but drizzle only at the top
Koalastars009 15 points 1y ago
I think when it first came out if use to be like that. We already have to relearn the salted caramel cold brew. It was kind of funny comparing the two different recipe cards.
mini_unknown_error 3 points 1y ago
I'm so confused on the SCCB, where TF is the salt part??? I mean the original with the salt in the foam was kinda disgusting to me, but where's the salt. It's like half the staple of the drink
Erbearlee 13 points 1y ago
The foam still gets salt. You are just supposed to add caramel to it too
icedcarfee 6 points 1y ago
and now it’s vanilla in the cold brew 💀
Seaweedgreedy 6 points 1y ago
Waaiiittt… so it’s pumps of vanilla, cold brew to top line, ice, and vanilla sweet cream blended w 2 pumps caramel syrup and a pack of salt on top? Correct me if I’m wrong pls I feel like Im not doing anything right lol
mini_unknown_error 1 points 1y ago
Oh my god Ive been giving people just caramel cold brews....
nezaket 8 points 1y ago
The salted caramel cold foam still gets salt... .... ... unless? ?
ToritoBurito 14 points 1y ago
Standard is cookie crumble only at the bottom and both on top. :)
eeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeee 10 points 1y ago
Hold the presses.

The way I was taught is whip > mocha drizzle > frapp > whip > drizzle > cookie crumble. Why are y’all putting cookie on the bottom?
Calsan1 7 points 1y ago
The standard is whip > cookie > frap > whip > cookie > drizzle. Or maybe drizzle > cookie at the end, I don't even remember which goes first, but it's only cookie and no drizzle at the bottom, while caramel crunch gets dark caramel and no crunch at the bottom and normal CR and crunch on top
RedRowBlueBoat 3 points 1y ago
They changed the recipe when it became a core beverage. Whip > drizzle > frap was the old recipe, back when it was only a seasonal beverage. For whatever reason they replaced drizzle on the bottom with crumble on the bottom in the last year or so.
eeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeee 1 points 1y ago
This is fucking news to me. Why the fuck would you put crumble on the bottom?
gained_spoon 8 points 1y ago
I know it’s wrong but I do cookies, mocha, and whip on the bottom. It makes for such a pretty frap. I’m at a non-corporate store though so our managers isnt a stickler about stuff like this so console your recipe book!
_candlestick 8 points 1y ago
only crumbles on the bottom.
Kimber210 4 points 1y ago
Only crumbles on the bottom..Mocha and crumbles on the top of the whipcream
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
Did it used to be just mocha at the bottom or something?
_candlestick 2 points 1y ago
no, i think people just got confused because the crcf gets dark caramel at the bottom. also when they were being promoted, the picture kinda made it look like there was mocha at the bottom
deluxe_anxiety 3 points 1y ago
I don’t we’re out
zombiecabbage 3 points 1y ago
I put mocha and cookie on the bottom. I’ll never forget when I was making one and this customer yelled over the bar “YOU FORGOT THE COOKIE CRUMBLES” as I’m literally picking up the shaker to pour some in.... I just looked back around and gave her the dirtiest look. Like do you wanna come back here and make it yourself? 😭
cassie4673 3 points 1y ago
Grande - 3 pumps of frap roast, whole milk to bottom line, pour into the blender, three pumps of mocha sauce, two scoops of Java chips, grande scoop of ice, 3 pumps of coffee base, blend, whip on bottom, 8 shakes of cookie crumble, frap, whip, drizzle in a spiral , cookie crumble

(Our manager kinda freaked out on everyone about the crumble and drizzle too lol)
hmmyeahrightokaythen 4 points 1y ago
Yes except the syrup pumps and chip scoops should match, right? 2, 3, 4 for both?
SooHoFoods 1 points 1y ago
Yepppp idk why they said 2
coffeesparklez 1 points 1y ago
This is the right way based on launch recipe and the last time I trained someone (~2 months ago!!) It stinks that we don't have solid store level communication. No one in my store even did the Fall training. Or SM scheduled training time, but it was before fall launch materials were even available. I tried. Then we ended up short staffed with 10000 new baristas. The burnout is real.

Crumbles only on the bottom and then crumbles & drizzle on top
Ok-Bowl4392 2 points 1y ago
What’s interesting is the photo they have for the drink shows mocha drizzle on the bottom not crumbles. The recipe cards all say crumble at the bottom
Standard-Pin1207 2 points 1y ago
Nope mocha doesnt go on bottom 🤷🏻‍♂️ it was a misconception because of the picture produce by corporate. It was layered with mocha drizzle on the bottom to make it more appealing to the crowd.
jennyparks07 2 points 1y ago
Damn more training on Reddit than in store 😅
cou_ntrycrock 2 points 1y ago
when it first came out it was definitely whip, mocha, and crumble on the bottom. but that was a few years ago. lately they are making lots of small tweaks to the recipes.
nicathor 2 points 1y ago
While I was trained to put mocha at the bottom, Starbucks' menu states it's just cookie crumbles on the bottom, which I will try to remember. But take a look at Starbucks' own picture of the frapp and try and tell me it's built to standard. There's either an absurd amount of crumbles in the bottom or they themselves put mocha at the bottom
wildaloofrebel55 2 points 1y ago
First of all, all these different responses are hilarious. Secondly, I also did whip, mocha drizzle, cookie, frap, whip, drizzle, cookie! I’ll be looking at the store resource guide when I go back to work tomorrow.
[deleted] 2 points 1y ago

xxsophiamiller 1 points 1y ago
lmaooo all of us at my store put mocha at the bottom and dark caramel for caramel crunch! Also also whats the standard for how much crunch/crumble you’re supposed to put in? I always put a SHITTON
80sserialkiller 1 points 1y ago
the replies r so funny pls. so many ppl saying “i make it THIS way cause it’s better imo” yessss do whatever what u want who cares
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
I’m no longer a barista but I always did whip, cookie crumble, and mocha. I had a very by the book shift catch me once and tell me it was just whip at the bottom.

When she wasn’t there, I just did it my way cause it made the drink look better. But I’ve seen different baristas do different things with it. Who knows 🤣🤣🤣
Ok-Mix-5129 1 points 1y ago
Only cookie on bottom:)
lexesbux 1 points 1y ago
Just had this talk with a previous partner who joined our team not too long ago! They thought it was mocha only then they thought mocha AND crumbles but I explained it’s just crumbles!

Although with all the fraps w whip on the bottom it’s hard to keep track of the specifics sometimes
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
[deleted]
august401 1 points 1y ago
i usually just make it however the heck i want
MrsClaireUnderwood 1 points 1y ago
Cookies on bottom only. Your manager is wrong.
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
[deleted]
GreyGreyson 1 points 1y ago
It’s supposed to be cookie on bottom only but it doesn’t say if you do it that way
ChemicalBarnacle 1 points 1y ago
I never put crumbles on the bottom shhhh
FfierceLaw 1 points 1y ago
Think that’s bad? Half my partners make the strawberry Frappuccino look like a uniform pink blended all in, the customer didn’t ask for that. The rest of us put the extra purée in the bottom so it flows up the side and looks marbled like it’s supposed to!
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago

Not crumbles on top of an inch of whipped cream??
rlogranite 1 points 1y ago
Refer the beverage card or I believe there's a resource guide on the I pad

Mikaylapancakes 1 points 1y ago
Only cookie no mocha. The Java chip and the double chocolaty chip get the mocha drizzle but no cookie.
streakystronky 0 points 1y ago
Standard is mocha at bottom, Java chips in the frap, and cookie crumble/ mocha drizz on top
babyIoves 0 points 1y ago
it's 13 shakes of the cookie in the bottom!
Elliotisnotokay 0 points 1y ago
I was told only mocha at the bottom and mocha and crumble on top
DebtGlum 0 points 1y ago
This is so funny haha I put whipped cream, cookie crumble, and mocha at the bottom then the frap then the whipped cream cookie crumble and mocha again
throw-Swimming-9516 0 points 1y ago
ITS MOCHA AND COOKIE IDC IDC IDC i’ve been told no crumble because of a “choking hazard” by one of my (wanna be shift) coworkers but LOOK AT THE PROMO PHOTOS????? god we got into a fight over it and she got in trouble for yelling at me but ITS BOTH! i will die on this hill.
alexipoo 0 points 1y ago
i feel like it’s already too sweet so i spare the customers taste buds by only putting the cookie crumble at the bottom instead of the whip and the mocha 😳
mrbubblegxm 0 points 1y ago
i just do both bcs it tastes better that way lol
ObnoxiousR 0 points 1y ago
I ve been corrected so many times that I couldn't care less about damn recipes.

AdHuman5566 -4 points 1y ago
I put mocha in the bottom and if they ask for extra cookie crumble I put that in the bottom too. Then drizzle and cookie crumble on top. I don’t care if it’s correct because it makes sense
narviat -1 points 1y ago
i put the drizzle on the bottom too because ive gotten so many compliments from customers on how pretty it looks, also we dont go thru enough mocha for it to be a problem so why not use it amiright?
raptoraptorr -10 points 1y ago
I know it’s only crumbles at the bottom but I still only put mocha. Looks better and is quicker!
melodiic_ 7 points 1y ago
it's really not hard to just follow the recipe card as written... baristas who go off script and improvise the drink ingredients make the job harder for the rest of us
