Get yourself a job that cares about your wellbring.
I'm an ex Starbucks employee of two years and I can't express how much of a difference the toxic attitude of corporate made on the job and from what I hear that attitude has only gotten worse. I now work at a small Cafe that doesn't do drive through and that still has about as many people come through in a day as my old Starbucks, o work longer hours and have even less people on the floor with more complex food and like 8 different milk options and do you know how many times we were overwhelmed? Twice. And we only had people come up to complain about mistakes three times and once was just because I forgot to grab a pastrie for someone. It is PART OF MY JOB when I'm up front to slow down people's orders enough that the back doesn't get overwhelmed and I can tell customers that. My boss told me on my first day that if someone was giving me attitude I could come get him and he'd cuss then out of the building. He also told me that if we lose a few customers because we shut our doors on the dot when we close that that was fine.
If you can afford to leave Starbucks and find a place that values it's employees more than just as revenue makers I promise you, it will be worth it.

This is a fantastic time to get a new job. Don't even quit just go do some interviews and see if anything catches your whimsy.

I left starbucks my dream job and school is rescuing me at the moment. I know in the long run I am happy. Its my self esteem.
I know several people that have done this for years. They all deserve so much better for themselves. I hate seeing them get shit on for serving coffee. Leaving starbucks is gonna get me the career I want cause I am natural risk taker.

Y'all ever wonder if there is a push from corporate to get people to quit rather than unionize? I mean if you are already over the gig, you should at least give it some effort to improve the conditions and maybe REALLY become a partner rather than a replaceable "partner".

Doubt it, if anything, raising benefits and preventing people from quitting decreases the number potential unions as partners are happier

Or it doesn't and just allows starbucks to boot out the unhappy employee for a naive. Like amazon does with its high turnover rates. They use employees like batteries and replaces them when their productivity starts to plummet.

Interesting point! Not sure if Starbucks is quite at the level yet, but probably will get there soon. Unions form when employees have either been at the company long enough or like the company enough that they wouldn’t want to (or can’t) find another job. It’s a byproduct of a company willing to accept a revolving door. That’s why, as a result of this corporate mentality the first union (that Starbucks couldn’t bust) formed

I agree that unions form when employees feel like forming them.
Telling people just to quit instead of attempting to fight back is just telling people to give up, which is fine, but don't think you aren't helping SB cycle through their next batch and perpetuate their strategy.

Any body in california looking to quit but stay close to the coffee environment for better benefits, Philz is hiring. They’re like Starbucks foot traffic wise but no drive throughs, simple menus, and no milk frothing.
