Usually you can get a decent feel from your interview what to expect. I would think as long as your manager seemed nice it won't be as bad as you think. I started 3 weeks ago and now that I'm a little more used to things, I am loving it here! My team especially has been overly welcoming and forgiving for any mistakes I've made.

my manager seemed really nice and the employees seem to come to him whenever they have an issue. he’s fairly young. and when i walked in to meet with the manager for the first time in person one of the girls complimented my hair. so everyone seems nice. thanks for the reassurance

your store sounds awesome!! try not to be nervous and let the experience play out for itself. good luck!:)

This is where we vent and commiserate you’re not going to see the positives here but it doesn’t mean they don’t exist

My store manager definitely sold a pack of lies in the interview. They were completely different in the interview than when I was actually working.

I had the same experience when I was a coffee drone for the Bux.

Why on earth would anyone schedule a 1st shift on a holiday?

Anyway, you’ll prolly be fine, and if not, it doesn’t matter, it’s just coffee, you’ll still be fine.

idk but hopefully i get paid that extra amount? 🥵 but i spent all of it doing modules since the person who was supposed to train me called out
rudebii 4 points 1y ago
I mean it has nothing to do with you , it’s just odd to schedule training on a holiday. I dunno if it’s 1.5x if you’re new but it’s going to be hard to teach anyone anything on Labor Day, usually a busy day, unless your a store in a downtown that empties out with the corporate crowd or whatever.

Never feel bad about asking a question. Even if it’s the same question a dozen times. Your coworkers want you to succeed. And when I train people, I usually tell them it takes about two months to really feel comfortable on bar but you’ll get there. Just be open to comments and corrections. Hope your day goes well

No problem, I'm glad it seems like your team is giving off good vibes. And don't worry about making mistakes or asking questions. From what I've been told, this job can take months to get truly used to

i worked at a dunkin for a few months so hopefully it won’t take me that long to learn everything lol

After you have worked for a while, I would love to hear your comparisons to the two stores!

a lot of the bad experiences come down to who you work with. We all experience shortages (labor and stock), but other than that, a lot of it is your manager & shifts & coworkers. sending good vibes! :)

From the perspective of someone three months in... it’s really not so bad. The drink recipes aren’t that hard to learn. For every one idiot customer, there’s like 50 good ones. We all roll our eyes at managers sometimes, but I feel like that just goes for any job! Also, can’t beat the free drinks! LOL.

Uuuh please update?? My first day is Thursday and I'm actually hella excited but also hella nervous
imboredwassup [OP] 1 points 1y ago
uh so actually my trainer called out yesterday so I didn’t really do anything. and only the specific trainer can train someone so they just stuck me on the computer to do my online modules and then let me leave when i finished them, before my shift ended. It was pretty chill and the shift supervisor even offered and made me a drink which was really nice cause I didn’t even eat anything all day. but everyone at my store is super nice so i think i’ll be fine 😅

It honestly depends on your coworkers and your store my friend! But even with the bad things? I really love this job. It’s one of my favorite ones I’ve ever had
Toomanyboringpeople 1 points 1y ago
Honestly it depends on the store but also, as someone else said, this is place to vent to others who understand so it’s all the bad. ALSO I think most of us that are here complaining have just been here so long we’re burnt out. I think with any customer service job it’s all absolute crap by a certain amount of time working there. I wouldn’t let others experiences effect your own. Feel it out and go from there
