Manager Won’t Change My Availability (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by luvduvbunny
Hi everyone,
This is just a small rant. My availability is every morning until 12 besides Mondays. I tried to change my availability on the partner hub, but it won’t let me and it says to talk to my manager. I’ve talked to her 4 times about it and she keeps saying she’ll change it. I’m still getting scheduled on Mondays and I have to call out. Is there anything else i can do?

I know texting isn't technically a valid form of communication but send her a text along the lines of

"Hi, we've spoken about my availability numerous times (start keeping track of dates and list it) but my availability seems to be getting ignored which causes me to have to call out. This is a text just reminding you of my availability effective immediately. If this issue does not get resolved in a timely manner, I would like a meeting with you and the district manager to discuss further options for a store transfer within the district that can better accommodate my availability. Thank you."

Just so a. you have something in "writing" in case your manager tries to pull some bullshit on you, and b. you are also giving her time to fix the issue before bringing your DM into it.

Or u can do this in an email, so you don’t have to text her, I think her email should be on the business cards for your manager

YESSS! I always forget about being able to email them. Haha

OP, email her too! It would be much easier to just CC the DM if it ever has to come to that. :)

I texted her in the past too, so at least it’s already in writing. I make sure to have conversations in writing and in person just so there’s a paper trail. Thanks for the advice!

You're welcome! I hope things get better for you. :)

In the Partner Hours hub app there’s a way to set a new availability but it take three weeks to go into effect once it’s been approved

Edit: the app is Intelligent Hub in the apple store, you may need a link or something once it’s downloaded. I’m not quite sure I did it back in my training

If you go to "starbucks partner hours" on the back of house computer instead of the partner hub, you can log in and change your availability. You click on the 3 bars, and select "my availability" on the drop down menu, then click "request availability". Make sure to leave Monday blank and also type in the notes that you need Mondays off. It will go into affect 3 weeks from putting it in, but hopefully this helps you. Your store manager does have to approve it, but if it's a request in the scheduling system instead of being in texts/emails/etc., it can't be ignored as easily.

I tried to do that today while on my break and it still says I need to speak to my manager because the system won’t let me change it myself. I’m able to request time off on my own computer, but for some reason availability won’t change for me

Well, it isn't changing it yourself, it's just submitting it to be approved, so it should just say "awaiting approval from ~your manager's name~." I would definitely talk to your manager and get in writing that your manager will change your availability by a certain date. That way, if they don't, you have it in writing and you can call your DM or partner resources. I hope it works out for you and im sorry that's happening!

I meant to say the system won’t let me request a change in my availability. But either way, I’m talking to my manager yet again about this issue and why she hasn’t changed it on her side of things. And I’ll continue to call out on Mondays since that’s the only day i can’t work
kqs13 2 points 1y ago
Ohh gotcha I was confused! That's weird that it won't let you request availability! Yeah definitely keep things in writing as much as you can so that you can have evidence if you do have to talk to the DM. And it doesn't make sense she schedules you that day when you can literally work all 6 other days. Sorry she isn't supporting you properly!

Write it out on a piece of notebook paper and put it on the desk saying that teamwork’s won’t let you update (as she’s been made aware) and this is what she can input for you effective immediately since you first notified her over 21 days ago (if that’s true )

Download the partnerhour app and it allows you to submit your availability there. It’s a little confusing at first but easy once you get the hang of it

I believe to set a new availability it has to be 21 days in advanced possible try setting the date further out. I

There's also a way to print out your availability form and hand it to the manager. Take a pic of it and I would text it to your dm to be safe saying that your sm has been scheduling outside your availability and you are officially handing her a change in availability form
