Clocking in for Last Day (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CommercialMeringue36
Its been a long 3 years and I finally turned in my 2 weeks for a variety of reasons. I'm looking to see if there are any suggestions for shenanigans to get up to on my last day.

Feel free to suggest anything and everything.

You could always do what my coworker did and go off on the customer everyone hates. Screamed at her that she was a an awful person and if she wanted a warm doughnut she could go to the Dunkin across the street. Best day of my life.

If you're big mad put frap roast in a spray bottle and have at the walls. But that's only if your coworkers were meanies.

Honestly all I want is you to tell me how you left and why. I have not been able to leave for 8. (I’m def not even close to the oldest partner wise at my store we have multiple 25+ partners) this is my 4th store and I am so done but every store I’m so attached and can’t leave but so over it at the same time I am just gonna start asking this to everyone who quit for help cause I am terrified to do so and apparently many at my store are as well. I know I wanna at least wait till October/ November or whenever so I get my stock but I need to hear other peoples stories to be able to do this I think.

I'm happy to answer! For me personally, a lot of my reasons for leaving come down to a few categories: mistreatment by managers, Starbucks steadily becoming more of a fast food chain, and understanding that I didn't want to make a career out of the company anymore. Plus, ASU (which seems to be a deciding factor for many) simply isn't useful to me bc I didn't like any of the options they offered me, so I checked with my local tech college and started a degree program there for roughly the same tuition.

In addition to this, I found the fact that it has taken Starbucks this long to raise their wages a bad sign of corporate not maintaining the trend well enough for me to be alright with the low pay in exchange for better benefits. Id rather make my case in other markets for both better pay and better benefits, especially seeing as this current labor shortage definitely gives most people better leverage for this. I know I'm going to be well set in industrial work once I'm done with college, so I was able to leverage that with my family to live with them until I'm done, thus giving me more room in considering part-time work outside of Starbucks.

As far as being attached to a store, I completely understand but at some point you have to evaluate whether or not that attachment is holding you down or if it's healthy social connections...given the trend at Starbucks with how high stress stores are, I'd say it's the later. I had to start prioritizing myself before all else because no one else was going to do that for me. Getting the short end of the stick in assignments and hours after bending over backwards for 2 very different managers showed me that lesson well enough.

In the end, it's all about making a plan with what you can control and figuring out what you want our of a job, and seeking it. Put your resume out everywhere, talk to people in other markets, do whatever you can to research and put yourself out there and you will get some hits just by widely casting a net.

EDIT: Grammer.
