how to quit without notice (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PK_Pixel
First off yes. I know it would be my coworkers who suffer, but my manager already said that 10 new transfers were on the way for the school year start. (we're on the popular food street next to a big university).

I'm in the process of transitioning to a new job. Assuming I get it, which I should know very soon. I feel very very confident about landing it given the interview and my qualifications.

2 extra weeks spent at Starbucks means losing 2000 dollars that could have been gained at the other job.

Currently, student loans are set to begin repayment in December. No interest is currently building, meaning that any amount I pay now goes straight to the principal, and would therefore make my life easier for the next 10 years. (More I pay now, less I pay in interest)

How can I communicate this? I know it's selfish, but I'm literally saving myself stress and making the next 10 years of my life easier. it's not just 2 weeks of extra work. It's the next 10 years of my life.

don't say anything until you know for sure that you have the other job with a start date and everything.

If you need to leave sooner than 2 weeks, just say so. there's literally nothing the bux can do to stop you from leaving.

If you’re able to, I think being completely honest about why you’re having to quit on the spot may help.

Putting in a two weeks notice is more of a courtesy so they have time to hire someone to take your place. But if there’s people about to take your place anyways I think it would be ok.

If it were me having to do this I would tell my sm how something else came up and I am having to quit. If you like your sm you could bring them a small gift (like a candy bar) to say thanks for understanding. I hope this makes sense
