help before a shift (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by orangeeelemonnn
i have worked here for two years now. i am in a pretty rough spot atm and i’m so anxious before this shift.

i’m trying not to have an anxiety attack at the thought of it and i don’t know why.

the place has gotten so much worse, the customers have gotten so much worse, everything has gotten worse.

i can relate. i used to work at an extremely busy coffee shop and had the same problem—everything got worse and i had so much anxiety.

i would advise you to take some deep breaths, make sure to eat before your shift and drink plenty of water, and afterwards, maybe start looking for another job. maybe you could transfer to a different starbucks location even?

coffee jobs aren’t worth the toll on your mental health and hopefully you could find a position somewhere else that causes you less stress. i know quitting might not be an option for you right now but maybe you could think about it.

i wish you the best & hope your shift goes okay though <3

I know. I'm sorry you're experiencing anxiety caused by your job. Just know that it is extremely \*normal\*.

Sometimes there a little things you can do to relieve some of it. For example, my store's group chat was causing me tons of anxiety. I left it, and I felt much better.
