I had this happen, and even though I didn't try to step up when I got the next chance due to shit management, onr showed me how to do the pull and another showed me how they use the cash machine and another asked me for my opinion on things, and they always have me the option of learning/doing or not and it just.... It was the best feeling of being worthy and appreciated I ever got at this store.
I'm so happy for you :') you've got a strong support system already

I'm in a similar position, my shifts are teaching me shift things and are super supportive of me becoming an SSV when the opportunity arises and are willing to go to bat for me. Feels good man.

I call one of my baristas my “shift in command” bc I refer to them a lot when there isn’t another shift around. We actually both interviewed for the position and they’re just as qualified as I am so if we had room I’m 100% sure they would’ve been promoted too and next time we have a position available they are next in line to be promoted. I mainly ask for their advice when I’m running the play or just run things by them and keep them in the loop as if they were another shift. I think it’s great they’re helping you learn bc it’s a lot and it’ll help make the transition easier when/if you do get promoted.
