I feel like most stores are like this. Openers do almost nothing and complain about how terrible peak was, and berates the night crew for leaving them in a bad spot. An endless cycle. They seem to forget that closers also get heavy rushes. Sometimes, non stop.

As an opener, I'm so sorry.

Obviously a lot of stores are different. If my morning peak was a 34... omg my entire shift team would probably run clean play all day and have that store spotless for night shift's nightmare.

Usually my store is up to our eyeballs in customers as soon as we open so unfortunately running clean play anytime before 3 or 4 pm is ill-advised cuz we usually need all baristas on deck. So it seems like our store's roles are reversed.

Granted my saying all of this probably doesn't make your irritation any better. Completely understandable. If I were a closer at your store I'd probably be incredibly frustrated with opening shift also. Would I hate them as people? No. We're still a team regardless. Would I hate their laziness and aversion to work? Yep. 100%.

Yikes. I’m an opening shift and I cannot imagine handing off a shift with nothing done. Mind you we get 60-70 during peak daily. Used to get 100’s before covid. That seems like a leadership/ communication issue.

That does seem messed up. I would mention it to the boss and if they do nothing then just transfer.
