Is Starbucks a great job for college students? I just really need a part time job right now.

I can see where the people saying no are coming from, but I personally have had a great experience at my store alongside attending school. I think it honestly comes down to your management and your workload from school. My manager is amazing and allows me to only work 4 days a week as well as taking time off for clubs and such. I say go for it and see if it fits for you.

as I person who started working at sbux when I started college, I wouldn't recommend it unless you can work at most 30 hrs. I took like 15-18 credits && work almost 35 hrs && was ready to die, it was far too much. try to not overload yourself during the school yr && you can pick up shifts or extend your schedule when school is out

They definitely expect a lot outta you... I came in asking for 10-20 hours a week and am consistently given 30-40. The income is nice, but I know I wouldn’t be able to manage this if I were a student!

Honestly, I think it’s one of the best part time jobs you can get if you have to have one. Starbucks has very flexible scheduling. I’m in high school and was hired over the summer, and I had a smooth switch from full availability to only week closing shifts and weekends once school started. The hours you get are what you make of it when you put in your availability (aside from extenuating circumstances). I actually work more hours during the week than some of my coworkers who are in college, so if you need time for school it’s there. And if you want the most control over when you work, I would suggest applying to a drive-thru store since they typically have more people (meaning less chance of your availability being overrided in the schedules and easier shift coverage).

Are your courses hard? Or weedout classes? I would not do a heavy course load (like 3 STEM classes) in general, but if youre taking many STEM coures you dont wanna work too much so you can study in college.

I think its doable to work 15-20 hours a week with normal credit. Its gonna be difficult if you need to work more while attending school as a fulltime student.

My manager allows me to work 3-4 days a week with 15-20hours max and it was fine.

My courses are somewhat hard but manageable! I’m still debating if i should even apply to Starbucks. I know it depends on location and management but I’ll think about it :)
