New management screwing up schedules(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by _lanalana_
Im making this post mostly as a rant but also if anyone has advice please comment lol.
My store just got a new manager and assistant manager within two weeks of each other. And theyve been really good with most things EXCEPT scheduling.
We’re understaffed every day. Im talking 4 people on the floor on our busiest day of the week when our previous manager would have given us 8+ people. We’re the busiest store in out district. We need more people on the floor at a time especially on busy days.
Partners who normally work 20-30 hours a week are only getting scheduled for 10-15. Partners who normally work 10-15 are getting scheduled 20-30 hours. Every single coworker i have talked to about it has had to call out or swap shifts at least once in the last month because they were scheduled outside of their availability.
I have two shifts in the next two weeks that are completely outside of my availability and that i cannot get to because i rely on my roommates to drive me. But i cant afford to not work them because im only getting scheduled 15 hours a week and will just barely *maybe* be able to afford my rent this month with those hours.
Im picking up shifts wherever i can and ive talked to my manager already so hopefully itll work out soon. I know that most of these issues are things that will go away as the new managers learn the flow of our store a little better, but in the meantime i cant exactly afford to wait for them to figure it out, and neither can my coworkers.

Don't they have to do an override to schedule someone outside of a set availability? That seems wrong. 🤷

Apparently their first few weeks the old manager was the only one who had access to our availability or something? We keep getting a bunch of weird excuses as to why its all so messed up

What did your manager say when you two spoke?
_lanalana_ [OP]1 points1y ago
That he would make a note of my availability in the future

Do you know how to submit a new availability?

You can access from home, submit from there, and let SM team know. Then it's set in stone
