East Coast of the United States Baristas(self.starbucksbaristas)

Do any of y’all warm up the pastries items we shouldn’t warm? I just had a man from DC saying that they warm up his pumpkin scone on the east coast but it gets cold. I said the icing tends to melt off and it’s a safety thing for us. To which he replied “oh I get it because everyone in the west coast is too stupid to figure it out.”

yeah i dont warm the stuff we arent supposed to. i already have battle scars from a grilled cheese i am NOT messing w those ovens lol
We can’t warm pumpkin scones, lemon loaf, and pretty much anything with icing. If some old man with a stick up his ass wants to play the ‘well you’re just to stupid’ card then he can heat it up himself and risk the burns. When he scalds himself then tell him he’s to stupid to figure it out.

The fact that he's going so far as to try to insult your intelligence demonstrates the guy is a bully. Probably did the same shit elsewhere and they just decided to give them as he wanted so he can leave.

I'll warm a donut for myself occasionally. Never for a customer though.

It kinda tastes like a funnel cake.

Not only can you possibly burn yourself, but it's also a fire hazard.

Midwest not east coast, but have been asked this. The rule is we don’t warm things up that aren’t supposed to be warmed up. And you’re right. It is a safety thing. So you’re all good. He’s “too stupid to figure it out” not you all. (Since I’m originally from the west coast, I will fight him).

I’m in the South, our store doesn’t.

Yeah my store in NC doesn’t warm any pastries we shouldn’t, but there are stores in our district that to because I ordered a pumpkin scone and it came out warm to my surprise

I'm in KY. We don't warm the mentioned (for customers) but I have been known to put a pumpkin scone in the oven for 5 to 8 seconds for myself

Bruh, someone heated a pumpkin scone for one of our regulars ONE time and now he orders it everyday and gets upset when we tell him we’re not supposed to…he used to get unheated coffee cake. 😭

Heating them up use to catch fire in the old ovens so I just tell people they still do. I'm not testing it out with these new ones.

I’ve been told that heating the icing can ruin the ovens. I’d imagine it’d smoke heavily if heated too long and damage the venting system

I work down in Texas, in our booklet it says not recommended but my supervisor says that it's fine to warm it up. Typically a lot of people don't ask and so I don't. I guess it just depends 🤷♀️
darkwolf5232 points1y ago
Nay. I don’t at least. Idk about my coworkers

Ppl suck

We don't warm up things we're not suppose to at my north eastern store. Not risking burns or fire here
the1noir2 points1y ago
I don’t even offer to warm peoples food lol
zambiers1 points1y ago
Usually, if they want it slightly warm, I’ll put it in a bag and place it under the oven. But we don’t do that for just anyone. We only do that when it’s winter or fall

I do not, unless they really push the request. Some of the icings can cause serious burns, but yall obviously know that. What a rude man.

In DC area, my store warms the donut but not any of the other non-warmable things.
Tyd4ee-12 points1y ago
My store has a regular that we warm up old fashioned donuts for. We tell pretty much everyone else that we don't warm them, but for the regular we toss it in on the cookie setting and he's happy. Also tips well.
