Just your district and it sounds like a dumb decision.

I honestly don't know because I turned in my aprons last week, but it doesn't seem to be happening in my district. Right now my (former) store has MO&P off, DT only, and opening late and closing early because we had a positive case. In the last couple weeks, we had some short staffing so we turned MO&P off and closed the lobby.

While this sounds nice, it's actually coincidental. Normally the SM and ASM just let the store catch on fire before they come in (extremely rare) or decide to close the store (almost never). In the 6 years I worked there, we closed the store only a handful of times. Once for cleaning cause of Covid, once for a Biohazard cleaning, once for no running water, and once or twice for no electricity.

we close the store almost weekly due to no one wanting to cover and our SM is never on the floor. its truly so disappointing to those who show up and are willing to work cuz.. yanno.. bills??
onelb_6oz 4 points 1y ago
Wow. Our store is definitely not like that. Partners are pressured to find their own coverage (even if out of their control), face write-ups for NCNS (or even just not coming to work after failing to find coverage [even if every attempt was made]), and managers moan and complain and do everything they can NOT to come in, except closing the store.

TL;DR: managers are largely apathetic/selfish and generally leave us to the wolves.

I would double check laws in your state if they’re sending you home without pay. In California there is a reporting time pay where if an employer sends you home due to lack of work, you’re entitled to half of your shifts pay even if you didn’t work the entire half. It’s likely that the new policy is not national because it would go against California law and they’d have to pay people without working.

i live in GA….. </3 so i highly doubt we have that here;-;

Maybe so that the people who need to call out feel extra guilty? Idk, sounds really dumb.
francescugh 10 points 1y ago
trust me. they dont. a handful of our partners call out of 75% of their shifts. they dont care! sadly my SM cant do much since they say they have symptoms but are posting themselves out partying and even have the audacity to come thru the DT when they’re supposed to be working! its so frustrating bc they dont care! and it only hurts those who do show up.
Zaccimi 13 points 1y ago
Going to the store while you’re supposed to be having symptoms takes some real balls on their part. If I was the SM they’d be gone, like how dumb are they? At least go to a different store.

unfortunately starbucks isolation policy states that as long as the exposure isnt more than 10 minutes its not against standards🙃

F your district. It's bullshit and NOT a rule. Your DM is being a douche bag. This is why Buffalo NY is UNIONIZING, and I am here for that to spread across the nation like wildfire. F starbucks...after 7 years I cant wait to take my maternity leave and never come back.

Call PCC and report it. Sounds like retaliation from your dm/sm. Punishing those who show up is wrong. Those who call out all the time aren't affected. SM and DM need to get off their lazy butts and actually do something about these partners.
francescugh 3 points 1y ago
i agree. a fellow SSV said “why would they close the store?” and i had to explain thats not the purpose behind this move. the motive is to keep MOP on consistently. i voiced this to my SM, its super unfair to our partners that show up everyday. our turnover rate is at like a 75% this year and its only going to increase with extra stress on those who give their best effort.
Frequent_Flamingo_42 1 points 1y ago
Our mop always stays on but if we are shortstaffed I just have to call my sm and she'll get it shut off with no issue so it's highly suspicious ya'll are being shut down cause of it
the1noir 2 points 1y ago
Where I’m from, turning off MOP is a taboo. It rarely ever happens. Delivery on the other hand, stays turned off
thechamelioncircuit 1 points 1y ago
If they do that then they might as well just close the fucking store

francescugh 1 points 1y ago
