Super green bean. I’m in my first week “solo”. I’ve been stuck on DTR all week (for 8 hours a daaaay). Well this morning someone no call no showed…. And I was the only person with bar experience (even the shift!) so I’ve been sweating over the espresso machine all morning.

I made every single caramel macchiato upside down accidentally, until the last one and the foam was trash and the caramel drizzle sank. I have absolutely no clue what goes in a PSL, I guessed and I hope I was right (venti iced, 5 pumps pumpkin, espresso, 2%, whipped cream, pumpkin topping?).

I’m enjoying not being on DTR but I hope nobody hates their coffee 😭

You were close enough on the venti iced. It’s 6pumps. Relax and enjoy being on bar it does get better. Drink some water. Sounds like you got this :)

You’re doing great! It sounds like your shift needs to pick up some slack if they are incapable of assisting on bar, I’ve worked at at least a dozen stores and every ssv is a seasoned barista. Most people end up wanting their macchiatos mixed by the time they drink it anyways so don’t be so hard on yourself take this as a great learning experience that’ll only make you a better barista! Keep up the great work!!

Shift is a 13 year veteran without bar experience….somehow. They ended up going home early today too.

the pump amount for all iced drinks is on the shaker, and machiattos get one pump less :) also something that helped me is theres one shot of espresso per 8oz in the drink and one pump of syrup per 4oz in the drink, hot short 8 tall 12 grande 16 venti 20 iced is tall 12 grande 16 venti 24 trenta 30 hope this helps

they’re not made in the shaker, i think they were just trying to give you a resource to use if you forgot. you can also punch the drink into the POS (assuming your espresso bar is near DTO) and it will tell you exactly what goes into the drink! i still use that sometimes and i’m a trainer, SSV, and 1.5 year partner
